If that was the selling dealer, the least they could have done is wear the cost of replacement for a $117 part considering you had just spent $140k with them and Porsche are doing their best to ruin their credibility... In the words of Jeremy Clarkson, "that's not very Porsche-ish!"

Sorry to hear...

Fill in the Porsche questionnaire for the car and the one for the service visit when it comes through, noting what happened and your satisfaction level on this. Be surprised if you didn't get a call rather quickly, will certainly impact quality metrics which are taken very seriously. Sense of fairness is missing here.

So which is it; cam sensor or thermostat? Or both?????
I would complain to Porsche customer service but based on my prior experience that probably will yield little. The last three times I wrote them they wrote back to contact your dealer.

Get this; yesterday I asked them if the side mirrors on the GT3 folded in and their answer was check with your dealer! Anyone know what their purpose is other than say check with your dealer?

BTW, those who have your cars do the side mirrors fold in?

I don't have my car yet, but I believe they fold (manually).

sidicks is right, mine folds manually. European regulations require that vehicles have a side view mirror that swings away in order to help protect pedestrians...

Mike, Sidicks, thanks.

You would think Porsche Customer Service would give me a courtesy answer instead have having me chase down a sales rep assuming he knows.

Nick, probably a 21 yr old Recent college grad that has never seen a GT3 is my guess. Don' take these things seriously.

So, here's the latest, latest…

Spoke directly to actual technician, "Mike" who is working on my car. Although, originally service rep indicated Porsche would only warranty what was currently showing as issue, Mike took it upon himself to contact people he knew at Porsche. He also took the time to read this entire thread to get history and do his due diligence before he went to task. (Still not a whole lot of these GT3's for them to compare). Admittedly, what we know as a collective is NOT what they've been trained with directly and at least for me (being absolutely ignorant), it's been a great resource. However, I certainly understand the "professional's" reservation taking advice from hacks like myself that post in lay fashion.

Bottom line, Mike went to bat for me, going way above and beyond, humoring me by looking at this post and then speaking hours w/ Porsche direct and got them to agree to permit him to replace ALL 4 SENSORS! Whooooyah!

Goes to show how individual people can make such a difference. Mike was the same guy that dropped everything when I drove right off the track at Sebring straight to his shop (100 miles away) and worked immediately on my car to see if he could get me running the first time.

Our tech up here in Cleveland is same way.

So, here's to you guys that keep the engine of Porsche running. I'm now able to put this to bed until next week when I run and all we're working through now is simple data acquisition installation (using racepaq, but that's another thread).

CHEERS!!!!!

Great to see technicians out there that show initiative, customer service skills and common sense. Awesome job on his part and so glad that you've gotten a positive outcome. Maybe the service advisors can learn from Mike as to how a customer should be treated

I thought thermostats were defective as well. So we wait until it fails before getting it replaced? Is there a technical bulletin on this?

The thermostats are checked and a new software is installed by the dealer for all new delivered GT3's and your good to go. There is a bulletin for it now at all porsche service centers.

It gets done during PDI. That's what they did when I got my GT3 yesterday in Dubai
