Cup 2’s On-Track?
VERY curious to hear reviews of the TRACK performance of the new Michelin Cup 2’s. Based on C&D’s instrumented test results on braking & lateral acceleration of the 991 GT3, the new rubber appears to have good grip but the 180 treadwear rating scares me. Can it really have more grip than the previous Cup (that had an 80 rating)?
Has anyone driven these tires properly-hard on track (even on a different car)?

I found a partial answer (manufacturer’s claim) on the Michelin site. They claim the Cup 2 is 1.8 seconds faster (over 5 laps) than the old Cup on a 997 GT3 (on the Jerez track, Spain). They also claim 50% more track laps (tested on a 997 C2).
Still would be nice to hear some real-world comments on this, as well as changes in handling characteristics.

Will they come out with 997.2 GT3 sizes?

I'm guessing that the higher treadwear rating is due to using different compounds across the width of the tire. Super Sport is made that way, has a high treadwear rating (~300, IIRC) and does in fact wear well, yet the grip is good for a non-R summer street tire.

Pilot Super Sport grip is great (for what it is) for a while, but by around half life the tire's getting hard and grip is way down. You can even get tread chunking towards the end of life if pushed hard. So in the PSS case I think the high treadwear number is a little misleading- it will be interesting to see if the PSC2 exhibits the same issues or not.

That’s why I’m so curious about the Cup 2’s. Hoping to run them until there has been decent testing of 19’s (and R6’s) on the car.

Yeah, by “serious” I meant Hoosier A6/R6 or above. I’m hoping the Cup 2 will outperform the Trofeo (on-track) but that is a decent 20” option if the new Cups have any issues.

I'm almost certain the answer is no. Was at the dealer a couple of days ago and there was a TTS with PCCB's on the showroom floor. I couldn't fit the tip of my finger between the inside of the rim and the caliper at it's closest point. I think 19's would be a no go....
