This thread is making my not getting a GT3 allocation a little less painful. Albeit less fun, tracking the 991TT w/ 5 lug is going to be so much less of a headache.

I have a stupid question. I like the look of the CH but why does Porsche not offer a 5 lug option like the TTS? Are there any advantages of a CH? My dealer advised me to stay away from them. I had a loaded 997.2S because my dealer scared me with the CH on the GTS. I chose my 911/50 over a GT3 for many reasons. Avoiding the CH was one of them. He told me there was some VERY costly maintenance associated with them. I guess not having RWS is also OK. I'm just so confused about this stuff.

They are definitely more trouble to take wheels off and put wheels on and for the trouble you get no benefit. If you want a GT3, I wouldn't let centerlocks stand in the way.

I would not let them scare you off if you like the car. Just be mindful that you'll be required to own a couple of additional tools and the likely maintenance costs if you track...

Many people on here believed I was mad factory collecting my GT3 early December. Why? A bit of rain, some cold roads, maybe even a little snow (there was none on the road)? My old man was scooting around snow and ice ladden lanes in his Ford Consul in the UK before I was a twinkle in his eye, three ply tyres and no active suspension or TC LOL! People have been doing it for generations. Our journey isnt over yet but so far so good and really, where would the adventure be if it were a guaranteed thing and 100% certain?
I say just get your new GT3 and enjoy it. If you find yourself loosing sleep over CL wheels, lift kits and maintenance schedules, perhaps its not the right car for you. Buy a C63 AMG for the DD and a used 997.1 GT3 with 5 lugs for the weekend and sleep sound at night....
