Some "more of the same" commentary on the GT3...then a segment with Walter Rohrl at the end of the video at the 16:00 mark.

With the 991 GT3 "I cannot say that I am a good driver...just that it is a good car". (due to electronic aids)

- Walter Rohrl

Hmm...I'm getting more and more concerned about driver involvement.

The "driver involvement" that people keep bringing up is so hilarious. If anyone has tracked a 458, MP4-12C or anything with a DCT tranny, and driven them hard there is plenty to do and plenty of "involvement".

It's funny that the effusive praise that has been heaped on the new GT3 in the media is often overlooked / dismissed, while certain specific phrases are overly picked apart and analyzed to the extent that they fuel the fire of doubt. Do I think it's going to be a perfect car? Of course not. Do I think it will be very, very good and certainly better for some than for others based on what the specific individual buyer expects from a car? Yes.

Either way, within the a few months, we'll have a much better idea as those with early deliveries (along with in depth testing on the track by most of the auto journalists...) receive their cars.

I don't think it's ridiculous. I drove a GT-R and disliked it very much. Fast but required no skill or input to be so.

Walter pretty much calls the GT3 perfect. And comparing a GTR to a Porsches is apples and oranges. It's not even close in the driving experience and that is exactly why I didn't list it. I did however list a 458 and MP4 (both of which I have right now) which I do consider cars that would be apples to apples to compare a driving experience. I never compare RWD cars with AWD cars.

I'm with you Rob,your concerns are legitimate, although I am not saying the new GT3 won't be what it's expected to be. But I see where you're coming from...

Isn't it relative? You can go fast with no skill, but with skill it would go faster.

this car and a GT-R share nothing in common other than auto-boxes.

I propose that from now on, that anybody who says a car is too easy to drive fast is required to post actual lap times they personally achieved at a track.

Yes, and I absolutely adore that car. My DBS is also manual, though not a very good one.

Yeah, I agree the GT-R comparison is unfair. In fact, I vehemently defended that on these boards some time ago.

Rohrl said the 997 was perfect. He said the 991 seemed a little easier to drive, and then was shocked at how much faster his lap time was.

We just need to drive the damn car to find out.

There have been plenty of reviews saying the 12C is a sterile environment. If you own both a 12C and 458, then your opinion should be highly regarded.

Probably, but it just wasn't fun.
