Paying double for a GT3 isn't sounding like a hot idea to me. Then there is the old get on the track, ($$$$) 150k lb spring under the gas pedal for most drivers who are so deathly afraid of going off of the track, they can't enjoy themselves (or go fast). The GT3 is brand new, and is likely to also have some bugs/issues, and the 997 generation certainly did not do much for the reliability reputation of the 911. If GM really solved the oiling issues, we will see for sure now.

Corvette is coming up, and this is just the base model, might be considered a shame but for the 996 and 997 generation, you did not kick the generations off with comparisons to the base C5 coupe or base C6 coupe. You would have gotten laughed at. Times have changed. I honestly think with equal tires that these cars are peers on the track. I predict lap time gaps between 1-2.5 seconds pending track, almost completely covered by an upgrade in tires by the Corvette.

This car could get me interested in DE again.

If only the 'Vette had a proper dual-clutch transmission. . .
Looks like we have some similar thoughts. I have a deposit down on a 4c, could be a hold-over to gt3. Might be a more fun car to drive at low speeds/street driving due to extreme low weight. However, at $80k then a 997.1 gt3 comes into the picture

So true. I'm not really keen on roughing up a $135K+ car on the track, and wrecking it would be misery. The price of the Vette is low enough that I'd drive it as hard I want, and wrecking it wouldn't be the end of the world (provided that nobody got hurt).

yes. So many Ferrari owners I know dont track their F cars. They have P cars for that!

I comp the Vette w/ a base 991.

Looks nice, but subjectively it just doesn't light me up. And service would be a nightmare; no where close handles Alfa that I know of.

Same here, plus I feel bad for adding 10% to the curb weight with my fat *** in it.

Hennessey C7. A little taste of what the Z07 might look like?

If the Z07 looks anything like that, I'm signing up for one. I don't care what people think, I buy what I feel like buying - drive a 2009 Z06 as a daily driver (12,000 miles/yr) and a 2007 997TT as a second car. I also love the looks of the 991GT3 and plan on getting one. But I thoroughly enjoy driving the Z06 every day, comfortable, has been very reliable, and hauls tons of stuff - I can easily pack my electric guitar and Fender Hot Rod amp in the back, difficult to do with the TT.

Why are you worried ab what "people" would think... Who are these influential individuals and why is driving a corvette bad?

I love the new c7.. It's a steal, and should be amazing to drive. If I were 50, balding and dating 20 year olds I'd buy one. Unfortunately I'm only doing the 3rd thing so it doesn't fit my image.

Well I fit the description of the 1st two attributes, if I thought that owning a Corvette might result in the 3rd I buy two ...

Agreed. And GM was smart enough to offer both a manual and an automatic....

My comments were tongue in cheek, glad I didn't upset anyone. New Vette is really amazing
