Corvette drivers are meat eaters, but I don't think he ordered this T-Bone.

I see that GM is being quite open about their foibles with the early builds of the Stingray. They apparently have three cars that have contributed to the "real world crash test" program thus far; all in the hands of R&D employees.

And in other Corvette news (?! ... no, I'm not going to make a habit of chronicling every blog entry I read about Corvettes!) I see Carbon Revolution has already popped some wheelies for the Stingray. A bit blockish for my taste, by relatively "cheap" by Porsche standards, about US$15K/set.

The base model Stingray has a similar curb weight to the 911; not to mention the added power and monstrous torque. Neither car is a jogger, but they both work out: the 911 is a fit guy; the Vette is a fit guy with muscles ... and commensurate self-image problems ... : )
While the cabin is leagues ahead of the C6, this close up panoramic view reminds us of GM materials and detail design shortcomings. There just isn't enough carbon fiber to mask this cabin ... but there is that pokey outey thing in the middle there ... looks like a PDK shifter, but no, it just has numbers and an R ... where's the +/- and PRND for the driver to know what gear the car's in?
And just one button to press to turn off the electronic traction aids? What?! McLaren would never approve ... that's just not sporting, old chap!

The Corvette has always been a tawdry, unsophisticated brute of a car, although the new generation is somewhat more refined than the prior according to early reviews (by American magazines).
If you live somewhere where the embarrassment of being seen in one would not be unbearable, i.e. suburban/rural areas of the US, then perhaps it wins out on performance.
That's the way I see it.

I had a Cayman S and the new version is gorgeous and incredibly well reviewed like the prior, but still under-powered. And it wasn't particularly durable at the track, either.

Nice shot! Can't wait for the United Sports Car series to get going next year.
Anyone know if they are going to be running the Cup RSR cars in a separate category (like old GT) or just the Cup cars we saw a post on last week (like old GTC)?
Would be a shame if just the latter, particularly for the factory Corvette team which won't have any racing experience for the bigger spec cars for Le Mans without the GT category.
