Thanks, Bluehinder. I'm just glad you got it sorted before your order was locked.

Based on my recent 2 Porsche purchases (2012 991S & 2013 Cayenne GTS) in the US, you do not need to check any option box to receive Bluetooth. I have fully functional capability in both cars for multiple devices and never optioned 619 mobile phone preparation.

If you order a GT3, then you'll get to experience checking the box for mobile phone preparation.

I know, I know. I also have a 991S and a Cayenne Turbo and never needed this option and have full functionality. That's why I was certain this was wrong, my dealer too.

You do need it, against all common sense and logic. Not even the Porsche NA ordering guru knows why, we checked with him and he simply said, quote: "You would need this option for GT3 for the Bluetooth to work."

He gave no further explanation, but it is now a fact. (he said with egg on his face)

The difference is that the 991S and Cayenne GTS have PCM included as standard and the 619 option isn't even a choice in the configurator for those US models. Though it's a no cost add, the GT3 doesn't come with PCM. If you want to add it and all of it's functionality on a GT3, you have to check the right boxes. I agree that what needs to be ordered could have been made much clearer.

I'm pretty pissed at porsche for NOT making this incredibly clear or included with PCM. There should not be so much to question for such an expensive car in this day and age where bluetooth should damn well nearly be mandatory for any car short of an ariel atom.

Update:
... as an oversight, my GT3 configuration did NOT have "Bluetooth Hands-Free Mobile Phone Interface" selected ... car delivered 1/07/2014.
I do NOT have Bluetooth connectivity with my smartphone ... my dealer is trying to get a"kit" from Germany to correct this, but may take some time.
You MUST select this $0 option.
With regrets,

Indeed ...
I reviewed the "Standard equipment" sheet from the dealer dated 08/09/2013 wherein was listed "Bluetooth hands-free mobile connection, using Hands Free Profile". This car should not have required a specific order for Bluetooth connectivity, but I would have ordered this had I been so advised by dealer.

Note that this thread from rennlist was alerting members since last summer ... but did not join until early January 2014.

I believe the dealer is going to correct this ... I'll expect at no cost, will let rennlisters know.
