Driving my orange .1RS today and hearing about how it's going to at the very least keep it's value I'm not feeling good about selling it for a 991RS when my name comes up. I've passed on my GT3 spot, just can't stomach selling the orange car this year.
The usual strategy to dump the previous model before the new one hits the market doesn't seem to apply here, the number of GT3's on ebay is the lowest I've seen it, 11 cars.
I've seen quite a few new GT3 buyers here, but who else is either trading 'up' from a 996/7 GT3 or buying to add another one?

Down our neck of the woods the people I know trading iin 997.2 Gt3 have been asked by the dealer to present their car for sale in September prior to the first 991 GT3 arriving in country late Jan. I would imagine by October/November we will see double the 7.2 GT3 here on thee market. Most 7.2 owners want to hand onto their car as long as possible as they will be Porsche less for at least 3-4 months between models but the dealers are pushy and want to clear the trade in stock and have the cash in the bank before Xmas...given the entire allocation for the first shipment here is only 4 cars that's not a huge market upset...

I found 26 gt3/RSs on auto trader; 18 were GT3s

I would also have a hard time selling mine. I really enjoy shifting at the red line myself
besides, I would miss not being able to look at my engine anymore ;-)

interesting remark. can you elaborate? i would have thought the gt3 market would be healthy across the band.

I'd say it's necessary to consider the '07 and '08 cars as separate from the '10 and '11 cars. You've really got four (very) different 911's, not a single category with four variants. Dealers on the buy side would try to conflate all four cars, pushing sellers lower and luring buyers to justify higher purchase prices. Sellers should see four different cars. Should an RS seller consider a GT3 as relevant to the price of their car?
Just at a glance, there's 9 RS 3.6's on autotrader. I imagine that includes the four Porsche dealer cars advertised. Prices range from $91K to $130K. Remove those two outliers and the remaining cars are $95-100K asking prices with one other low mile car at $115K. Mile for mile, advertise at $99K and sell almost to the penny based on MSRP and mileage or "desirables" like the presence or absence of PCCB or Sport Chrono.
