There have been threads in Track section about it - most who do not self-insure use Lockton and WSIB. Most regular insurance policies explicitly exclude any track driving, not just competition, but it varies not only by company but seems to vary by state as well or by some other factor, because people with same insurance companies have been getting different results.

But in the end, insurance is a gambling for risk-averse - the house always wins a predetermined percentage...

Pretty much all insurance now specifically excludes anything going on at the track.

Clarified it for you. There is insurance available for competitive driving, it just costs a lot more than most would be willing to pay.

Right, thanks.

It would be so convenient for all involved if I would actually type what I intend to type.

Anyone know offhand what a 100k policy from lockton would run per event (ballpark)?

I'd probably skip it and go with denial, but curious to know.

I'm also more concerned about personal liability than the cost of balling up a 140k car. Need to look into that part of equation more carefully. Back when I was active on track starting in 2000, my insurance policy had no exclusion for track or racing, then later they added an exclusion for 'competition' now it excludes any track use.

Need a VIN. I'll have to track down my VIN from my GT3 and put it in there.

You have a GT3, I thought a light weight M3?
Kidding, I think it works without Vin, just put an amount in.

Go to the site through the PCA website. It will do a generic quote.

frayed, hope you found it. If not, here's the link http://locktonmotorsports.com/partne...onaffinity.com

Sorry for the abbreviated answers earlier, but I was on an elliptical trainer at the health club. I did ok typing on my iPad, but copy and paste were beyond my capabilities.

well not 'mine' any more.

OK. Needed a vin I just pulled a gt3 4.0 vin and put in a value of 100k. came out at $521 for 100k in coverage for a single event.

Definitely not cost prohibitive IMO. Especially doing 4 - 6 events/year.
