Jimmy. Your photos were alot better than mine! Great shots. I was there the full duration. Amazingly the weekend was perfect weather for the event although wet and overcast either side...

This is why there's a concern about PDK. Almost 80% will be using this car primarily on the street.

Nick, so why is that a concern?

Although this will not be a daily driver, this is also a concern for me. I have never driven a PDK car on the street and am curious to see what it's going to be like to drive this car in manual mode at legal speeds and in everyday traffic...

Mike,I've been reading quite a few comments on the " Panorama GT3 review " thread where folks are commenting whether the new GT3 has lost involvement when driven on the street. Pete Stout seems to have come to the same conclusion after driving it. However there is absolutely no concern about PDK on the track where concentrating on better lines is an advantage.
Seeing that most people will be using the new GT3 on the street, you can't help but wonder...

Nick as I see it, involvement is subjective and while Pete Scout has come to the conclusion that for him PDK is less involving on the street, what he didn't say was how less involving it was; is it less involving to the point of boredom or just a small loss that perhaps given time, our brains would adjust and soon forget given all of the other positives about the car..

That's exactly what I'm hoping and you said it best : the positives of this car should make the negatives insignificant.

But it's that 80% that makes performance "affordable" for those that will really use it.

And that 80% also creates nice used cars at reasonable prices later on.

I have watched a similar transition in the off-road jeep world. It keeps getting better, and more compromised, at the same time.

How do you handle the matter of insurance when you put the GT3 on a track?

Some use prayer, but I prefer denial

Seriously though.. What does your run of the mill (geico, State Farm) type of insurance do about track days?

Most street policies won't cover on track. A few say they do but I wouldn't want to test them. If you decide to roll the dice here make sure to get something in writing that explicitly states that you're covered on track.

PCA offers DE insurance through Lockton. It's based on agreed value and as long as your not competing, i.e, DE vs racing, they cover.

Insurance for racing is a different story and gets real expensive real quick.
