If true, that would be a reason to delay!
Did AP tell this to you directly or was this second hand? I find it curious he would make such a statement knowing the ramifications that come with it.

Answering the thread question: Now there's a good reason to wait Q1 2014 for a built.

Agreed. Only to find Porsche making them available Q2 2014 and later right? Porsche playing with my mind. I have asked the area rep to send an inquiry to PAG on this very matter, but I don't expect a definitive answer. Alternatively, I will try to get them from the dealer at cost when they become available.

My summer 2014 delivery is starting to look like a smart-ish idea now

Default European Delivery

I was able to get an allocation by opting for European delivery which is what I wanted. Dealer did not realize they had extra allocations of GT3's through European delivery until my order got confirmed.

First I have heard of this. I thought Euro Delivery came out of regular allocation for the GT3.

Never heard of this either. I doubt it.

Depends on the dealer, that is, their history with PCNA and sales volumes. There are allocations kept in reserve for various high demand cars. Euro delivery can be rewarded by PCNA with some sugar, and that sugar can be another GT3 allocation (but not guaranteed).

In my case the dealer had two extra GT3 allocations but for European delivery. I ordered back in April.

ED may be the principal reason I'm willing to spend $150k on a new 991 gt3, vs $100k on a 997.2. The idea of being able to drive my car around Europe for a few weeks, nurburgring, Leipzig etc, makes me a new Porsche buyer and not a private /2nd hand buyer. This will be my first new car purchase ever, and first $100k+ car. It's a freakin' genius program IMO, if it gets ultra-conservative spenders like me to indulge (I currently drive a 100k mile '08 BMW wagon which I purchased with a lemon title for $28k and have been enjoying for 5 years trouble-free... So, this whole ED delivery really really has appeal for me.

Imagine the appeal when it used to cost significantly LESS to buy the car that way (7% off base MSRP). BMW Just eradicated that in 2013, dunno when Porsche changed their policy.

I took tourist delivery on my '84 3.2 Carrera and got a discount. In '99 I paid a premium, so it was somewhere in between.

Default My decision is to delay my order

After way too much deliberation, and with my freeze date fast approaching, I chose today to give up my December delivery slot in favor of a March 2014 build.

My primary reason is the hope that I can order the sport buckets for the later build, and maybe consider paint to sample as well. Who knows, maybe we might even see another worthwhile option pop up.

It is going to be a long wait!
