all good points.

Perhaps it should be removed for city driving and reinstalled for the track!

I don't have this on my 991, but we do on the LP560 in Florida... We have a really steep driveway, and it is definitely worth the cost... The other cars without it, require pulling into the drive at crazy angles, and backing out into a busy road at those same angles - not the worst thing in the world, but not the most convenient either...

I could see this being really valuable for the guys with lower ride heights...

Techart offers a system for the 997's which raises the front my ~60mm or twice that of the Porsche. I wish P's is more than 30mm.

Like I said,30 mm is plenty! Unless you're planning to go off road.
You have 93 mm plus 30 mm with the axle lifting system, that's 123 mm,which is more than a regular Carrera!

A non factory lift kit is an interesting thought, though. If the rumors are correct lift kit cars will be delayed into next year. One could skip the factory lift and buy the techart or cargraphic or whatever.

The downside, is that few, if any, aftermarket companies can match the quality of engineering and parts of a factory tested solution.

Anyone know the cost of the aftermarket solutions?

I hope the rumors are not true, that would mean us NY folks will have a really heavy paper weight.

I've read those rumors about long delays don't know where they're coming from. Maybe someone's misinterpretation. The German configurator states that the axle lift will be delayed until the second week of October 2013, but the US configurator shows no such restriction, probably because we won't be getting any cars until at least November anyway.

I think the Techart lift is almost $6000. But I think it may include new coilovers? sharky sells them.

Gotchya. Would rather not mess with the suspension given all the R&D that went into the setup.

The rumors don't make sense to me given the configurators. But someone else on here had posted that their dealer had them setup for a summer 2014 delivery due to lack of lift option.

I'm looking forward to getting this all cleared up. Supposedly soon the US will have allocations; I was hoping for today but haven't heard anything.

yes, when talking to my dealer, he said that my waiting list spot is for dec 2014 as that is the first time we'll be able to order cars with the lift kit. Living in San Francisco he mentioned that owners with 997 GT3 w/o lift have trouble driving on certain streets without taking crazy angles into opposite traffic just to clear intersections. Our garage is on an a street at an angle and I'm actually concerned that even with the lift kit I won't be able to get the 991 gt3 in. I have a tandem garage with another guy in the building, and when I have to move his Tesla S sedan it has to be in the "super high" setting just to pull in. What a PIA.

December 2014? Do you mean 2013? If not, that makes no sense to me at all. They'll be half way through the second year of production at that point. Why show axle lift on the configurator for this model year at all?

No worries, you just had me wondering for a minute there! BTW, I read elsewhere about your decision to do factory delivery with your Dad. Outstanding!
