The shifting without loosing torque to the wheels allows for shifting at different points as the car remains more balanced when up shifting.

and a choice quote...for all those decrying the gearbox...without the benefit of actually driving the damn car:

Dale also makes the following point: "In a normal GT3 you often use third gear through the hairpin [Wehrseifen] as it's just too difficult to make a nice shift as you swap the car from right to left. You turn in on the camber, but as it goes neutral near the apex you need both hands against the power oversteer that naturally follows. And in a manual you hit the limiter in second just at that critical moment. So it's quicker to be slower, sacrificing some punch out of the slower corner to make a better exit from the second faster corner and down the straight to Breidscheid. In the three passes of the new car you can see the driver is blasting out of the hairpin in second and hooking third on the apex of the right." Oops, and we weren't going to talk about the gearbox...

Oh, am confirmed for November delivery
Your dealer got his allocations? I thought those would be given in early May.

Thanks. I was not aware that Porsche was giving out the allocations. Did you spec and order your car? Or does that come later?

Provisional spec was requested...helps to ensure no delays...but finalisation not required until ~2 months before build commence.

Seems PAG will make a decision on PTS availability in June.

+1 Pre-conceived notions about this car are going to fall by the wayside as people discover more and more about it.

Congrats on your delivery confirmation! Still waiting for allocation info here in the States.....

Looks fast and cohesive. I wish I could sell mine and have a chance to upgrade to the forthcoming RS.

I just saw that the 991 turbo S lap the ring in 7:26. What do you think the gt3 can do relative to the tt models. I alway thought gt3's were better for track, but beating 7:26 seems pretty hard given its current specs. If it is in fact similar then the rs model potentially will be deadly.

In one of the interviews, AP said that the new GT3 will be even quicker than the 4.0RS which did a 7:27. I suspect mid-7:20's is in the 991 GT3's wheelhouse.

+1, would be a fantastic car (minus RWS). It almost hurts to think about what a masterpiece the car would have been with the new chassis improvements, lighter, nimbler. They picked the worst possible time to leave us out.

Now that they are being sued by hedge funds it's starting to make sense why they are chasing the dollars.

On a side note I thought Porsche may have actually been starting a new trend with the posting of the actual footage of the hot lap of the 991S. But here they go back to posting TBL's again. Talking about getting with the times, how about they get with that.

But I would bet money the GT3 is faster than the Turbo S, even if by a tiny bit.
