Default New CarPlay and my Porsche update

Has anyone had their PCM updated for the 991.2 to support the new Amy Porsche app CarPlay controls like the Cayenne? The app says you need to go to the dealer for a SW update. Wondering if it’s worth it.

Is it possible for older cars too? Thought it was only for newer cars only

No this isn’t a hardware change like above. This is for the 991.2 that already supports CarPlay. Porsche has new capabilities that let you control HVAC etc in CarPlay. It started with the new Cayenne but they are rolling it out to more cars that support CarPlay but the app says I need to go to the dealer and have my PCM software updated.

No ill will to those who choose to do this, but my temperature and fan buttons work just fine in my .2 GT3 even while I use CarPlay for music and navigation.

Would be interested to hear if it’s doable just to see if it’s doable, but I agree with above; I prefer the hard buttons located more convenient to the hand, and easier to use, than the touchscreen.

Will this upgrade allow you to turn off AC/blower so it doesn’t start every time you start the car?

No idea. I too like the HW buttons but I’m curious to see the UX etc.
