OK, so yesterday 4/14 my buddy Yora Gora who used to be the senior Porsche tech at Silver Spring Porsche in MD helped drop the PDK on the 2015 GT3. What we found was that the double mass flywheel was missing a large metal piece and was also dented on the surface. See pictures. As a result the grease from inside the flywheel was leaking. This explains why it never looked/felt/smelled like PDK Oil from the outside.
Cause - Maybe when the engine was replaced with the G6 back in 2019, the techs did not line up the PDK correct with the engine?? No way of knowing. There was no change in the way the car drove right up to the point we dropped the PDK to know otherwise. Once stuff gets put back together we'll see if the car drives differently (hopefully better)
Next Steps - Ordered flywheel part no. 991-114-020-90 Drive Plate for $1,651.75 and 10 x Clutch flywheel bolts PAF-906-651 for about $4 per bolt.
As soon as we install these and put stuff back together, will report back.
The DMF and bolts were replaced last week, all other parts and pieces of the PDK and engine looked ok. No other visible oil leaks, Putting things back together took most of the day. ~ 1.25 gallons of coolant was replaced and then topped up over 3 days after car sat overnight. Have driven car for ~ 50 miles since everything was put back together and things are looking good! Looking forward to scheduled track day next week at Summit Point!
Huge shout out to Yuri Gora (ex Porsche Silver Spring) who really knows what he's doing.
Observations - less rattle than before from the engine-pdk area which makes sense since the previous DMF was cracked and metal piece was likely in there somewhere. Gear shifts feel smoother but will know for sure when I take it on track. No oil leaks on the ground.
