4,000 miles in Touring
Just finished 4,000 plus mile trip in Touring from Oregon to San Diego. For 11 days the goal was to drive as much as possible on windy mountain roads. I drove 2,200 miles on fun roads and 1,800 miles to get to San Diego and back. I have the 4 way seats and they were totally comfortable for my wife and I. Ride is not too harsh and was never an issue. Noise level with Cup 2 tires was an issue. We both put in noise canceling headphones periodically to get a break. I had an amazing trip I will never forget. I was pinching myself most of the that I was in a position to drive this car on this trip. I now have 35,000 miles on the car and si many great memories. After 4 years it is still an amazing drive every time I get in it. I have driven almost every car out there and nothing is like a GT3! Looking forward to many more years, Lord willing!
Glad I had the 23.7 gal tank. Still filled up 11 times. Averaged about 18.7mpg
Always fun to get coffee and do some work with the peice of art in view.
Met up with about 22 porsches (16 GT cars) around HYw 2. Met them by accident and they welcomed me in like family. Drove for 3 hours in the mountains.
Always fun to give a \"non" car person a ride. (My aunt who lives in the area.
Met some great guys in an F8 and a GT3 by accident. We drove for about 2 hours in the mountains. The car cummunity is so cool. You can meet somone and you immediately feel like old freinds.
Stats on the trip.

Any recommendations for the best routes to take through Oregon and the NorCal? Thanks

In Southern California here are some suggestions. I wanted windy mountain roads with little to no traffic.
-Drive this early morning with no traffic and it is incredible.

-Hyw 2 and 33 of course
Palomar mountain area
Very windy mountain road

Sounds like a great trip!
Regarding the tire noise issue, I’d recommend putting sound deadening insulation only on the doors and the rear window wells of your .2 GT3.
This really cuts down on “bad” tire/road noise without affecting the “good” engine noise.

Hey Berjar, I was the one leading the drive last week to Big Bear that you tagged along with. Was good meeting you and loved seeing pics from our drive included in your amazing journey.

Steve, it's Peter...I was in the Silver GT4 (the one who crashed the drone filming us). We were so happy you joined and "accidentally" stumbled upon our group drive. And I especially loved your comment, "They welcomed me in like family..." yes, we ARE family. Take care!

I find it so cool how the Porsche community feels like family even with people you have never met. It is somewhat true with other groups but not as much. It was an epic road trip with lots of great memories. I will be planning the next one!

Thanks for sharing the pics. This is the best way to enjoy a touring! Am I spying the straight section at the end of Angeles Crest Hwy?
Road noise on the cup2 is also a nuisance for me at times. I wonder the the 4S tires are quiter?

If you track with regularity and live where it doesn’t rain much, the cup2 are the clear choice.
If don’t track much or you have to deal with frequent rain, then the 4S are the clear choice, because they are better in the rain, in moderate cold, and they are more quiet than a cup2.

4S are not as noisy as cup2.

I did a similar trip 5 years ago when I first got my Touring. I started in the Bay Area and traveled thru Oregon (including Bend), Washington, Idaho, Utah, and Nevada. I probably traveled 60% on interstates, so go a bit better overall mileage than you. I have the Sport Bucket seats, and they we very comfortable on the whole trip, including several 8+ hour days behind the wheel. Like you, the car get's a bit noisy at high freeway speeds from the tires. I used ear plugs when traveling across Nevada.

Amazing. I have the same review on the Cup2 vs 4S. I'd rather take the feel of Cup2 over the comfort of the 4S.
PS: Only real ballers put miles on their cars. Great work!

great stuff! Glad ya'll enjoyed it and didn't have any problems along the way. The tyres are noisy, but I typically can't hear it over the loud exhaust (not stock)
