Discussion: Have you tuned your Porsche (Why or Why Not?)
What's the general consensus on this forum and platform when it comes to tuning? Have you tuned your engine and/or transmission? If you did, why did you do it, and if you didn't, what's holding you back?
We've been tuning Porsches for over 20 years at APR. You can see a list of Porsche Models we tune here. It's not all of them, but a good chunk of models. The software we have is also on sale until the end of October right now.
When it comes to some of the other brands we tune, some of the more high end models, like the Audi RS6 and the Audi RS3 are heavily tuned. On the RS3 front it's hard to find one that isn't tuned. We see the same on some Porsche models, but on others it seems some are hesitant.
So, what's your take on tuning?

I tuned my 991.2 GT3 and my 718 Spyder, can't say I noticed the difference hence not sure if it was worth it (I hasten to add it was not with an APR tune product)
tune has to be removable in order to take to dealer for service ... "just in case"

Tuned, I used Cobb. Recently my warranty ended so why not. Car is definitely faster when compared to my friends stock GT3. Yes we did before and after tests.

I'd hesitate to tune it while under warranty, the gain vs increased financial risk seems iffy, but once out of warranty I'd always tune it. The knowledge that the ECU is literally limiting the GT3's power vs the RS with the same engine is annoying.

Not Tune: I'm too afraid of a garantie issue if my motor fails (I have a Porsche Approved and at least 1 trackday every 2 months). This kind of modification could be detected by Porsche, even if you put the original map in the car

- Engine warranty denial.
- More 100-200 (60-130) data and not only dyno runs.
- Looking for a full Performance Package.
let's say if I choose the Dundon exhaust package which claims around 30+WHP on stock tune, I'd still wait for them to offer the intake manifold+throttle body too.

Out of 7 cars (4 Porsches), I have only tuned one - the 992 C2S and the reasons for that were to basically remove all of the annoying new crap that turbo engines all seem to have. Specifically, I wanted to completely eliminate the auto start/stop that resets to on after every startup, eliminate the cold start routine that wakes up everyone in the county and get rid of the juvenile farts and pops on overrun from the exhaust (especially in Sport mode). Now the car behaves like it should have from the factory.
No interest in tuning my 991.2 GT3 since it has none of these silly issues.

No tune for me as my stock GT3 is already faster than me.
Decades ago I was telling a HPDE instructor at Road Atlanta what modifications I had planned to do to my BMW M3. He asked me could Michael Schumacher turn a faster lap in my M3 than I could. I responded with YES, he's a multiple F1 WDC. He then said, then the car is already faster that I was and I had to agree.

Why no support for 991.1 cars?
