Engine warranty closing soon! Keeping me up at night!

If you are asking the question…
Then go for the GT4. My cousin had three engine and PDK swaps during his ownership. They were all covered but the time in the dealership/downtime would probably be 5-6 months total, not counting the first time which was almost 9 months because he had one of the first 991.1 GT3’s delivered in the SF area and that was the time when Porsche literally held his car at the dealership out of an abundance of caution and because no replacement engines were available yet…
If you are okay with worrying about the engine failing and the ten year warranty expiring soon, go for it.

I recently had my 2014 GT3 in at my local Porsche dealership for it's annual service and had my Tech take a pic of the engine code. Mine as I have stated here before is a replacement that happened around late 2017. Original F motor went at 30ish K , so my current G series has over 25K miles on it as my odometer is now 56K+ and it pulls like Jesus made it on a Wednesday . No leaks and I get my Blackstone report from this service next week, so we'll see the metals tally and adjust accordingly.
That said, I've attached a pic and it looks to me like my engine code is G00577x , so I think there are a few pre-G6 variants out there.
My 10 yr according to my SA ends this August . Keeping the car ! I absolutely freakin love it .

The model numbers also tell us the GT4 will never be a GT3. Porsche makes sure of that by limiting the engines, making the gearing taller, and making the interior 2nd rate.

The G0 with the final DLC cams has the same part numbers as the G6. Top end oiling was already implemented in the pre revision DLC heads. The part numbers tell the story.

Same here traded for a 2016 RS, didn’t want to deal with when it will fail scenario. Love the analogy by the way and spot on.

I just bought a 5 year warranty( 60,000 miles) from safeguard for $1500 per year. Bumper to bumper with max coverage equalling what i paid for the car. Dealer confirmed finger follower issue covered, plus pdk and just about everything else.

Hi Rob-
That's a deal in my opinion.
So this is the warranty from your local Porsche dealer ? if so, was it just a matter of coming in to see someone in Finance , or did they have to do an inspection ?

911.1 GT3 is one of the best cars for the money. If you are worried the warranty is the way.

I contacted Emerson Knauss | Finance Manager (219.712.3892) over at Hennessy Porsche. No inspection was required.
