Default Stock exhaust connection DIY help...

The right side muffler on my 991.2 GT3T has a coupling that isn't quite connecting all the way. I removed the clamp that was on top of this (part 997.111.336.90) because it was not able to get snugged down due to the misfit. What I need to do is get these parts to come together more (see helpful arrows I drew) so that the sealing ring is fully covered.

I could use some advice on how to do that - e.g., can I tap the sealing ring in towards the side muffler with a small brass hammer or do I need to push the side muffler forward to get closer to the headers? The center muffler and side mufflers all seem pretty well situated and even - it doesn't seem like it is crooked.

Appreciate any suggestions!

loosen the side mufflers hanger bolts ( 2x bolts each side ) holding it to the motor and the connecting pipes to the mid muffler ( 2 x each side ) and move it around by hand until it is seated . do not hammer on it , just make all the bolts loose enough so it moves with you . Make sure the header bolts are tight and not loose.
I faced this tons of times as i changed my exhausts over 4-5 times. this is the easiest way i found.

Thanks hashash - just to make sure I understand what bolts you are referring to -

Are the "side mufflers hanger bolts ( 2x bolts each side )" what is shown as part 26 on the diagram?

And "the connecting pipes to the mid muffler ( 2 x each side " the bolts/nuts on flanges 11 and 12?

I may have to remove the bumper to get adequate access... Was hoping this would be pretty quick since I have good access to that junction without removing anything...

Either the center muffler is not OEM center for the 991.2 or the side muffler need adjustment by loosen up the 2 bolts (Look at your diagram #22 and the bolts and hanger).
Maybe your current center muffler came of 997???

OK I see the two bolts attaching the side muffler to that bracket and they are easy to get to. I'll loosen to see how much give that provides...

I don't see a part number on the exhaust and I'm not the original owner of the car but I don't see why it would have been replaced with the wrong part...

Aren't they pretty much the same from 997 anyway? The parts catalog shows two part numbers - one of which is 997:
997 111 027 99
991 111 027 90

That's a gracious offer and one I'd be silly not to accept if you are up for it. I'm going to try first just to loosen those bolts in case it ends up being pretty easy to move around but I'll text you in a few.

LMK! you might need someone to push the side mufflers towards the headers while you clamp them...

Agree with others, side mufflers have to be wiggled around to get in the right position. It's trial and error. Normal procedure is to detach the E12 bolts and shift the muffler into position.

I do not believe they are the same. If you buy a center by-pass today for the T from Soul or Fab-speed etc..., they are different for sure.

Thanks everyone and especially @Larry Cable for coming over and not only helping me get the right side done up correctly but also being willing to tackle the left side, help me with the clamp I broke and even chauffeuring us to the Porsche specialty hardware aisle of the Home Depot for a near perfect replacement bolt/nut while I await the overpriced version directly from Porsche...
