Tom - This is a good point and I've never heard this. Have you seen examples of the PDK filter being contaminated? I've cut a few up and never seen anything noteworthy but curious if you've seen evidence of debris or if this is just considered good practice.

Yep, these cars don't have to be expensive to maintain.

Speaking of that, take a look at something I came across. Not a recommendation as I have no idea regarding quality but Beck/Arnley has a PDK replacement pan for $120! I'm tempted to buy one just to inspect but I'm willing to bet it's made of the same injection molded glass-reinforced nylon as factory. Curious what they use for filter material.

We are all so used to paying the Porsche tax we've forgotten how it is in the real world. Beck/Arnley has a pan for 1/4 the Porsche MSRP but is still making money selling them. Hard to believe the Porsche pan is four times better.

yes .. looks exactly like the one I installed ... not sure if there would be any issues in tolerances or issues with the gasket thats part of the pan. but maybe worth a look/test....

And taking the exercise one step further, Febi Bilstein German-made Pentosin FFL3 PDK fluid is $15.23/liter compared to genuine Porsche fluid of $36/liter MSRP.

I used genuine Porsche fluid though I paid the discount price, but how much money are people throwing away on labels?

yup and the Motul Multi DCTF is $13 a liter and is just as good as the Pentosin fluid.

You can also get the EXACT porsche OEM pan from ZF for $275. I cross reference parts for my 911 all the time. I make it a hobby and save money at the same time, loll.

Can you confirm that pan is aluminum like it says at the link? That's an interesting option...

Yes it is. The best part is the replaceable element. I'm running this pan on two different cars at the moment.

Thanks, functionally similar to the LNE pan but without the added capacity and cast aluminum rather than billet. One-fifth the price though.
