Windshield cracked - 19 RS
So we took a rock 48hrs into ownership and are in need of new glass. Does anyone know if our 2019 RS is capable of using any 911 glass? I know the RS glass is thinner but this will be a rally and track car so it'll go through glass regardless of PPF. Looking for most cost effective option since we don't want to hit insurance with it. Any first hand advice would be great!

Standard glass for the 991's - nothing special aside of heating options.

Had my GT3 windshield replaced last December from a mobile service for $508 OTD price. Windshield description includes Two Leads, Rain/Light sensor, Solar and Antenna. Usually 911 variants are not listed when shopping since they're all the same as the standard.

Glass should be covered under insurance as a separate type of claim and will not affect your premium. I went through like 3 windshields on my RS. Glass deductible was $250. Never affected premium. But will depend on your policy. Either way, I recommend getting class coverage because you will go through tons glass on the RS...

I had to get mine replaced (991.2 GT3 non RS), cost almost $4000 now through the dealer / certified Porsche bodyshop. So SafeLite might be the cheapest most likely.
Don't think our cars have a shade of any sort at the top so I am assuming it's the 2nd option, Green Tint.

Just got my windshield replaced on my 2019 GT3RS at the Porsche dealer with factory glass. Total installed was $1632. I was expecting way worse. I would never consider putting anything but factory glass in such an expensive car.

I've never been on the track with mine but someone above said and I quote "you will go through tons glass on the RS". How come? I've been on a track with my golf about 10 yr ago, but did not seem to affect the windshield .
And if the above statement is true, why not put aftermarket windshield anyway and install OEM when resale?

Also caught a rock on track in my GT3 second time out, Euro pricing is 1950 EUR total at the dealership or 850 by an independent glass specialist who will use the same Saint Gobain brand glass as OEM but not the actual OEM....
Still thinking what to do. Could very well catch another rock next time out into the brand new glass. It hit quite close to the A pillar (probably a slightly more sensitive location than the middle would be) and while the chip wasn't huge it made a crack a foot long.
