That 997 C4S looks a lot like a 991.2...

Shocking that the 991.2 GT3 Touring is not on the list...

The 997 C4s and the 74 non intercooled turbo? Um no. Need the 3.6 Turbo S and 78/79 930.

Really a weird list... How many people have actually driven an S/T to be able to tell...

This list might has well have been pulled up by a random number generator with slight weighing given to market value LOL

Food for thought:

As far as the SWB "car's only as good as driver" camp is concerned, the R is the S/T distilled. Just as rare and arguably easier to find (in relative terms) than an authentic unmolested S/T. I've been around enough claimed-to-be-S/Ts to tell there really isn't a baseline--with age and customization they all have their own characters.

Among LWB longnoses sure the 2.7RSL is tough to ignore. Don't forget there's a 3.0. A LOT more car, and a big step forward despite just a year's progress. Only downside is the curse of its fugly G-series face.

964 RS 3.8 is special and I agree with its inclusion (no conflicts of interest evidently LOL). Take an RSA, lose weight, stiffen haptics and you have an RS 3.6. The 3.8 works the opposite way... start with an RSR, delete centerlocks, add cockpit and you have a 3.8. It shouldn't be in the same sentence as a 964 and is much closer to a 993 cup experience.

Modern cars? For me the 996.2 GT3 belongs up there. As does the 997 RS 4.0.

As for the 991+later generations, I think the jury's still out: the strife of these contemporary products will always be accessibility (to the masses) vs. character, and that final chapter has yet to be written.

It's entry 1 under a different name, with an updated powertrain, and <1/2 the price, imo...

Yes, 70 & 71 have the 2.2L. If this generation was a favorite, I have no idea why someone would choose the lowest model on the totem pole as the best. The 2.2E and 2.2S are far better, and much better again, respectively.

I believe Jerry Seinfeld answered that his 1970 or 1971 (2.2L) 911S was his favorite of all his 911's in an interview several years ago. Loved the rev-happy short stroke motor and dogleg 5-speed box.

This list was probably compiled by a poorly programmed AI and limited data software...
