Default 991.2GT3 with dime size chip in Windsheild

Looking at a GT3, it has a half dime size chip in the windshield, the dealer is not being flexible, and it’s not a Porsche dealer so I’d rather get the price down and have it repaired myself at a Porsche dealer.

Anyone have experience replacing the windshield on a 991.2 GT3?

GT3 windshields on 991's are unique (vs 997's where I believe GT3 windshield is same as Carrera).

OEM glass is approx $2,100.

its very soft glass and susceptible to chipping - I had mine chip and crack on the way to the dealer for a service - and got it replaced, not cheap!

Anyone putting PPF (or windshield equivalent) on their $2200 windshield? Would that make a difference against a projectile that would chip an unprotected windshield?

Had mine replaced by the dealer about a month ago. The original one was getting really pitted and hard to keep clean/clear.

I've had good luck with Exoshield. Remember: the Installer is everything

I had to replace the windshield last year due to a huge L shaped crack. Immediately after the windshield replacement I had STEK DYNOflex installed on it, so far no issues.

Price for new replacement windshield?

Does insurance cover? (impact on premium?)

typically covered under comprehensive with your standard deduction unless you paid for zero deductible glass. A claim is a claim, your premium will typically go up but a glass claim will impact it less than say a collision claim.

Thanks - so probably out of pocket best route.

I hate premium hikes.

per State Farm, glass is separate policy and does not affect my insurance rates. we'll see when I get my renewal!
