It’s taken a year to get to this point but I finally want to share a project I have been working on with a good friend of mine out of Ohio who runs a company called Marsh Composites. I’ve owned the PMNA Cup Car hood for a while but we both wanted to make a carbon variant of the 991 hood and even offer a carbon version of the cup hood that some like to run.
I crated up the 991 hood and sent it his way. I then took measurements and we made templates for the cup hood as well.
It was also decided to copy the PMNA cup car ducts to carbon, because why not? This would be a cumbersome project for my friend but he nailed it. You don’t often get to see this side of the process.
Then it was time to create the actual hood. The goal was to create something that is half the weight of the aluminum hood and full carbon, no natural fibers, no seams, 12k weave and better than OEM in our opinion.
The results are stunning. It’s been a year long process but good things come with time. There are so many options that are possible, like weaves, directions, finishes, cup style or non cup style (plain). The best part is, most of you won’t believe what this would cost. Too often we’re all being bent over for lesser quality and customer makeup. Low production high quality is the name of the game here. I have to thank my long term friend, Joel. He and I have come together for several projects over the years and have created some great stuff. Let me know what you think!

how about a price "range" ... and out of curiosity ... how do the naca ducts make their way to through the fender well to the brakes ..??
On the cup car, these aren’t brake ducts. They are fresh air ducts that feed the interior through the firewall.
Most run the cup hood for “looks” on the street with the motorsport pins. Like below
Essentially, there are 3 variants of the 991 hood.
No ducts (plain)
GT3RS (naca ducts in different location feeding the brakes) with matching ducting from the cowl down to the brakes.
Cup Car (Naca ducts in position show above feeding fresh air) with holes for Motorsport pins. The OE latch can still be used.
Cost is as follows:
With standard 12k and gloss
OEM style $3000 (plain no holes)
Cup hood $3200 hood only (duct cutouts and pin holes)
With ducts $3900 (included carbon ducts for below.
Add oem 3K $150
Add matte clear $100

Do you have the weight? Would be interested in the GT3 hood, dependent on the amount of weight savings over OEM.
The aluminum cup hood weighed in around 17 lbs and the carbon version is just over 8 so about half. The center section ribs are also gone on the carbon version. Factory GT3 hood is pretty light, so wonder what the weight savings might be here. Definitely interested in a hood with no ducts and V twill carbon with matte clear.
Nice project! How's the fitment? It looked a little off in some of your pics at least of the passenger side along the fender. Is there any room to use the Cup ducts for brake ducting on the 991?

The fitment is good, your spot on about the sides, I’m using the ducts underneath for a “completed look”. The hood needed a little “massaging” to close those gaps down on the sides but seems to be good now. It may ever so slightly he hitting the rubber caps underneath on the cowl.
As I stated in a post above the ducts were never brake ducts on the cup hood, they were fresh intakes for the cabin. The Street car RS hood were for the brakes. Is there a way to adapt them, probably. However, it would take some serious modification.
Are these released yet? Installed pics and final weight would be good.
These are available for purchase and the weight came in a little under 10lbs I believe. This was installed on my 981 project but I know Joel Marsh is looking for a 991 owner to purchase and take pictures. He’s willing to bump the order to get that done. His backlog is quite large at the moment, so if you’re interested let me know.
