Default Crooked touring spoiler/wing

The right side of my 2018 Touring's wing is sometimes not retracting fully flush. Anyone have this issue before? It appears to be due to a plastic arm in the mechanism that has broken and is now probably binding at times when retracted (second picture). Hoping I can order a cheap part and DIY a repair as a dealer visit always turns into a 2 day thing.

No impacts at all. It just looks like a flimsy, cheap plastic part that failed and is now binding.

I was hoping that could be plan B... It's an extra hour and a bunch of hassle every time I go to the dealer so I try to limit those visits.

It's free though, and a Porsche tech works on it.

Never seen that before. Unreal that it broke without impact.

Is it possible a hater, or a kid tugged on it hard while it was up and you were away from the car?

No. I have never left it up and I don't think it had this issue with the prior owner.

The exact same thing happened to my .1 GTS. There is a plastic bracket that is a spring retainer inside the spoiler assembly. What has happened is one of the tabs on the bracket is broken causing the spring to be misaligned and it is not allowing the spoiler to fully retract. My car was under the CPO warranty so it didn't cost me anything but without the warranty the repair would have been $3100. Hope this helps!

Ouch 3100.00 looks like a easy quick fix.

If someone who has a touring is willing to take a picture of how that linkage under the wing is supposed to be, I'd appreciate it!

Thank you! Really appreciate you taking and sharing these pics! It looks like one big plastic part that the two arms attach to and i bet that means I’m on the hook for the whole $3K+ assembly unfortunately.

Unfortunately you are correct. Here is a better picture from the other side to show how the big plastic louver thing has the arm that attaches.

I had this exact issue with my 981 Cayman. The dealer had to re-adjust the wing and honestly never got the alignment back to where it was from the factory. I fussed with it and made it reasonable.

There are adjustments that can be made. No one was ever able to tell me why they were required on a 4 year old low mileage car.

I am going to close this thread out to thank all who weighed in and in case someone with the same issue in the future searches and finds this. I did end up paying the $3500 for the dealer to replace the whole spoiler module and all seems fine now.

I also kept the old module because it is silly that 98% of it is in completely functional order and only one cheap, simple plastic part is broken. Maybe some day I can find just that plastic part, repair it or 3D print a new one in case this happens again or someone needs it down the line and I can provide it to them for free and spare them the $3500...
