Default 991.1 GT3 Fire Extinguisher Install

I need some help with someone with the OEM extinguisher. My car originally came with the FE. I bought the brackets according to the parts list. It looks like I’m missing some parts in the seat itself, as I can’t find where to mount it. Can someone take a picture of how it mounts to the seat? Or does someone know the parts I’m missing?

Thanks!

Mine mounts into the floor, not the seat. I would have thought that all 991.1 gt3 were the same? There were carpet cut outs that I removed to install the bracket.

Bracket looks like this....

Just 4 screws hold it in place in the footwell.

Ok I figured it out and took a bunch of pictures for the next poor soul that tries it. My car originally came with the Fire Extinguisher. I have no idea why someone would go through the pain I just went through to remove a bracket you can't see!!! This diagram from a 997 game me a clue as to where to look. #14 holds the two screws in the bracket. #15 holds the lower two screws. These two brackets were laying loose in my seat from the previous owner!!!! I bought #15 but have not researched the part number for #14.

The diagram for the 991 is useless.

You will need to take out the seat. There are plenty of threads on this. Gently remove the plastic trim pieces with a very skinny flathead. This exposes the front bolts remove them. Slide the seat forward. Remove the rear bolts. Tilt the seat up to expose the bottom of the seat. Remove the yellow electrical connector by pulling on the black tab. Plase the seat on the bench. Step #1: Loosen the electronics and associated bracket. First loosen #1 by removing 2 torx screws. Then same for #2. This exposes the last screw to remove the bracket #3. It needs 3 torx bolts to be removed.

Which finally exposes the 4 holes that are in the seat to secure the bracket(9p1-860-232-a) to back plate(9p1860674) which you have to tap yourself. Luckily my original that I found in the seat was already tapped for M6x1.0 which I had plenty of.

The next step is to secure the bracket. BUT then you have to take it back off because plastic bracket #3 will not go back in place!!! 😊 Seriously avoid this mistake. You need to weave the two brackets as they are intertwined so that the four holes from the FE bracket and the three holes from the electronics bracket align. It is not difficult just take your time.

Now secure all four bolts of the FE extinguisher bracket BEFORE securing the electronics bracket. Ask me how I know this? You need to be able to move it around or it covers the bolts to the FE extinguisher bracket. To do this you need to remove two bolts that are holding the seat cushion to the frame. This will allow you to get the backing plates that will hold the bracket to the seat.

Now reattach the lower bolt of the electronics bracket and attach the components to the bracket in the reverse order. Reattach the seat cushion and you are done. Good luck.

@9914s can you post the thread link to the one you posted screenshots from? I'd like to read the whole thread since it seems to apply to the LWBs. Thanks.

@9914s disregard. I found the thread.

The part numbers I had are in the description above. I bought the fire extinguisher from the marketplace. They come up every once in a while.

Default Fire extinguisher 991.1 GT3

Here are the pictures of my fire extinguisher, originally mounted in my 991 GT3 Clubsport ex. factory by Porsche. Also mounted in 992 GT3 RS and Clubsport. Mounted next to the tunnel on the passengers site. I still have some for sale in original box, with all the hardware.
See pictures.

I am so not looking forward to doing this. Looks like a major PITA. For the record, I plan to install the OEM system on a 14-way seat (heated/vented) in my 991.2 C2S. I picked up the whole kit for OEM Extinguishers who directed me to this thread. Any additional helpful insights would be greatly appreciated.

Also, did anyone who has done this experience any dash/warning lights that had to be cleared?

clubsport? - the N.A FE differs and mounts under the front of the passenger seat.

Finished and very happy with the end result. I love how it attaches to the actual seat and not the rails. This way it moves with the seat. You can also almost completely conceal it by deploying the thigh extender cushion. Fully detailed DIY video coming soon on my YouTube channel soon.
