Default Ro_Ja Boy's Round 2 GT3 Thread

I had started a build thread for the GT3 I bought in March, but quickly sold it after having it for just two months: Ro_Ja Boy's GT3 Thread - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

I had really wanted to buy a Guards Red GT3 that had my ideal spec (Guards Red, Manual, Buckets and Silver LED headlights). I was trying to buy it from Ferrari of Seattle, but they felt they could get more than my last offer to them ($205k) on Bringatrailer. It went on Bringatrailer, I bid up to $202k ($207k with fee) and gave up. It sold for $203k plus $5k buyer fee which meant I didn't get the car I wanted and the dealership got less than I had offered them. I became friends with the person that bought the car and helped him source a GT3RS just a month or so ago. Once we sourced the RS for him, I listed the silver GT3 I had bought in the meantime (sold it) and agreed to buy the red GT3 I had originally wanted. Here's the bringatrailer auction: 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 6-Speed for sale on BaT Auctions - sold for $203,000 on March 6, 2022 (Lot #67,337) | Bring a Trailer

The person I bought it from added PPF, but added black PPF to a number of panels (hood, roof, wing, mirrors and rocker panels) that I'll have to have removed for my liking:

This was of it being loaded and on its way to Vegas. I'm out of town for a few weeks, so had it delivered to a friend.

Had the Akrapovic exhaust installed by my friend while I'm out of town. Planning to hopefully get it to PPF this week to remove the black bits and tint before I get home.

Picked up a roll bar yesterday (7/5). Will get it powder coated in the coming weeks and then installed.

Will be home in less than 2 weeks and have some updates by then.

7/11/22
Got the wheels/tires mounted today at Trophy Motosports and dropped the roll bar off for powdercoating.

Titan Motorsports roll bar was installed today by my friend:

Congrats! Great color. Have you driven with the Akrapovic setup yet? What are your thoughts vs the exhaust on your old car, I believe your old car had JCR something.

Great question and can’t wait to answer.

We’ll be home to Vegas in about two weeks and can give you a good comparison. This setup is the Akrapovic with side bypasses. The previous car had the JCR silenced race pipe so expect some similarities in terms of loudness.

Many may disagree, but I think the Akrapovic system is the best sounding exhaust for the 991. Congrats!

Yes and No. Can’t wait to get home to get to the car, but will be leaving five weeks of 70 degree weather everyday in San Clemente for 100+ degrees in Vegas.

That's some admirable dedication on getting a car you REALLY want. Congrats!

I know that car. FoS had it stored at Driver’s Club for a while. Single owner, he lived over on Bainbridge Island. PCM still had protective film on it when it was at FoS. Nice car, you got a good one.

I'd go get it and drive it down to San Clemente either way - I hear ya! Enjoy the weather and the car soon.

Thanks, all. My buddy put the Akrapovic exhaust, LED sidemarkers and Ed’s Bolster Covers on this past weekend. Today he’s dropping it off to my PPF guy for me to get rid of the black and the tint. May get it to the Detailer before I get back as well. 👍

Picked up a roll bar yesterday while in SoCal. Will be back home Friday to get the car from PPF and then work on getting wheels/roll bar sorted.

Great looking spec, congrats.

Have the tires been replaced? Date stamp on BaT pics are 2017. Might be worth getting new tires if you plan to track it.

I have a set of Titan7 wheels and tires sitting in the garage for when I get home. 👍 Will leave the OEM together for the time being.

Got back to Las Vegas and picked the car up from the PPF shop today. Wild how much different and happier I feel driving this car that I really wanted than the one I had previously settled for.

It looks so good to me with the black removed and replaced with clear PPF and tint removed/replaced with Air80 clear window film.

Will post some pictures soon with the updates including the clear LED sidemarkers and Ed’s Bolster Covers. 👍

I have the same exact spec except I have sofas instead of buckets. The combo of the silver wheels and silver wheels really pulls it together. Mine also has the silver interior trim so it all flows really well. I contemplated selling it but just love the car and the spec is perfect for my needs, although there are times when I wish I had gotten buckets.

Congrats on finding a great car!
