Windshield Protection?

Got another crack in my front glass from a tiny, grain-of-sand sized chip. This will be my 4th windshield replacement lol.
What do y'all do to protect your front glass, or is this just a fact of life when you actually drive these cars? Some sort of temp/peelable film? Like a tear-away?
My insurance company is probably scratching their head about why I keep putting in $3K claims for windshields

Some good info here. May help those small chips from becoming a major crack:

The dealer says it's because the chassis is so stiff. But that doesn't make sense to me. If the chassis is stiff, the glass wouldn't move or be under torsion. If the chassis is soft, then the chassis does twist/flex and so too does the glass. So in my mind, the stiff the chassis, the less the glass would flex. But anyway... I'll grab one of those repair kits and keep it in the glovebox.

When I saw that thread a few months ago in the 992 Forum, I bought 4 of them, and keep in each car. Won't help you now, but maybe in the future. The poster is a pretty meticulous owner.

I use a single layer tear-off from www.protintshop.com. Learned about them from another GT3 driver at the track.
Not the easiest thing to install for the first time and by myself, but came out pretty good. Some small cloudy spots and tiny air bubbles throughout if you look closely, but can't really tell when driving. It definitely helps on the track, as little gravel bits just bounce off. I try not to use the wipers anymore unless I really have to. It's like a stiff mylar film so it's tricky to conform, not soft and stretchy like paint protection film.

Find a really good PPF installer that also installs Exoshield on windscreens. https://www.getexoshield.com
Premier also did a fantastic job of putting their windscreen PPF on my ‘10 R8 many years ago, but I’m not sure how close to them you are.

I think it was STEK that offers a protective windshield film. I think it does wear out over time, in the sense that if you use your windshield wipers, it'll eventually leave marks behind after a while. I dunno what the time period for that is. The other thing as well is it does probably alter the clarity a bit. Although, the perception of it may vary from person to person, depending on how sensitive you are to those changes.

Forget the Clearplex I have it on my GT4 CS and have a 7" crack. My advice is to use PPF 10mil on the 2" all the way around the edge. This is about the best you can do.

I might try the tear-off route once just to see how that goes since I can install myself for a track weekend.

I don't think all these films are compatible with polarized sunglasses.

+1 for clearplex. I installed when car was new and replaced about a year ago. No track days though, just fun weekend canyon drives with friends.
