Default 991.1 GT3 - Leaking oil at track

So i have a new to me '14 GT3 with 48K miles. The motor was replaced back in 11/16 so i assume i have the "F" type. I have taken the car to the track 2x with a large amount of oil noticeably leaking during the event and after. I was told this is common (i say this tongue in cheek) if the oil was filled above 2 green bars which it was the first track day. The leak has gotten much worse (we are talking a cup or more leaking after hard canyon runs). Should this be covered under the extended warranty or is the warranty only for catastrophic engine failure? I was told by my indi mechanic that it is the gasket above the fly wheel and that it would be 13-14 hours of shop time to replace. anyone else had this problem? Any advice? Oil level is at 2 green bars as of this writing and it does not leak with just normal driving around town.

Do you mean that it is physically leaking out, i.e. you are seeing oil pooling on the floor underneath the car after a track session? Or do you mean the car is consuming oil, as in your oil level goes down but there is no obvious puddle of oil underneath the car?

IIRC a small amount of consumption is normal -- my 2015 .1GT3 w/ F0 motor consumes oil at the track. Oil consumption is not covered by the extended warranty.

No amount of leaking/pooling is normal and should be fixed. I do not believe this is covered under the extended warranty either.

The letter I have from Porsche covers the engine, it is not limited in anyway. If the engine is leaking oil (not burning due to track use), it should be covered under warranty. This assumes its not due to a bad drain plug seal or oil filter seal. I have never seen anyone post on this forum with this specific problem.

I dont think all oil leaks are covered by warranty at least CPO Porsche categorizes leaks at certain levels. They will not fix all levels under warranty.

If you can see oil dripping from your car you should not be driving it on track.

Unfortunately it is dripping. I was told by my indi mechanic that it wasn’t the end of the world but I have just dropped it off at the Porsche dealership to see why it is leaking. It isn’t on the bottom half of the engine (the drain plug is fine) and it seems to be coming from somewhere up top. which leads me to believe it is a gasket or who the hell knows. Crossing my fingers that the letter provide by Porsche stating anything with the engine is covered includes this. We’ll see. It doesn’t leak when driving around town only when pushed very hard at the track. Baffling to me. Hopefully the motor went and I can get one of those G engines .

Had the same and needed to buy a new PDK
But maybe the leak is somewhere else.

Is it me, or does that tie-down technique look unsecure? Not to be critical, but would hate to see you have an issue. What's to keep the front wheel from spinning backwards a bit if there's a big jolt that unweights the car? Then everything would be loose.

I use this method as it save time. Never had an issue. The only difference is I used on all 4 wheels.

We’ll took it in - the Porsche wants 5200 to diagnose the leak which may or may not be covered. Has any one ever had a warrant that is “flagged” by Porsche NA due to possible modification? I have after market exhaust but don’t 100% know of anything else done to the car. All maintenance request must be approved for coverage. The service guy seems pretty up front but 5200 to diagnose seems a bit steep. If the don’t cover the fix. Second issue is they found a faulty transmission control mechanism. They want to replace and furthe diagnose at another 6k. Which is not under warranty. Man this is my first Porsche and I am horrified at the dollar amounts they are throwing out. Thoughts?

Crazy... I had to spend 10k on my new PDK but thats a complete replacement. If they now charge such prices for diagnostic, they make the cars undrivable for normal people...
