Default Would you buy and track a repaired GT3?

Found one for sale (2018), good price for the given market & it’s spec. Found out it had been repaired despite a clean carfax. Over $40k in repairs to the front end.

Would you guys buy a car like this and feel safe
on the track?

It all depends on what was damaged and what was repaired, and what is the price. Even cosmetic repairs can hit $40K in a Porsche. If it's all cosmetic, it's still a repaired car and the price should reflect that. If there was structural damage and repaired, then it's essentially a salvage vehicle in my book.

Race cars are crashed all the time and put back together.

Fear not as long as it was repaired properly.

Here are the parts replaced. $195k on a $183k MSRP.

So ~$19k in parts and $24k in labor.

I had a 991S that was in a “ran into the guy in front” accident with just cosmetic damage to the hood and a small bit of the bumper. Was $25k to repair. I’d imagine a GT3 would have been $40-45k for the same type of hit. Car had zero issues and was repaired at a porsche certified repair shop. It helped to have the original pics of the accident from the seller though. I’m guessing the one you’re looking at does not?

agree 100%. Repaired cars are totally fine so long as done correctly. Doesnt even have to be pretty so long as the repair is strong.

Agreed but isn't the operative term "properly"? Can a PPI determine if the car was repaired to OEM standards?

Many may disagree but 10K over MSRP seems looney-tunes for a wrecked '18 GT3; this should be a significantly sub-MSRP car-

I had a pretty heavy front end crash with my Cayman R in 2016. Huge bill to repair that came out of my pocket but the way it was repaired was exceptional and I drove it on the track for over 5 more years so as long as the repair is done well then I would have no issue. Now how to figure that out is another story. And I agree with the above, that car should come in under MSRP but it's a crazy world right now. I personally looked for and found a well used GT3 that will see tons of track time so I didn't want a perfect example and I didn't want to pay top market prices. My strategy worked for me. Good luck!!!!

It does not. The only reason I know is the dealer volunteered that on their CPO check they noticed parts in the front didn’t have matching numbers, so I guess they went and found the repair order and shared it. Kudos for their honesty.

Yeah, I can’t tell from the parts but I guess they’re treating it as cosmetic.

Hey buddy. I’m thinking the same. If it were heavily discounted I might take a gamble, but even then I know I’d be panicked every fast corner especially when taking the kids for a drive.

At this price point, not worth it. As a point of reference, you could call a dealer you trust (not the selling dealer) and ask what they would offer on a trade with this type of damage and repair. A dealer might not offer an estimate without seeing the car and inspection, but would be interesting to understand that range if you can find one.

If it was done by a reputable shop I don't see what the issue would be. Check how long ago it was repaired, and how many miles on it after the repair. I wouldn't touch it If it's a branded title though.
