Default Thoughts on tread ware MPSC2

Removed after ~7500 miles with 600 being on track.

Mounting fresh shortly.

I don’t see anything wear wise that is alarming.

Am I missing something?

If those tires have 600 track miles you’re not driving fast enough.

Those look phenomenal for 7500 miles.

that was going to be my response! Seriously, not sure why the OP is putting on new tires when those look barely used.

I guess I'm feeling good about the overall condition of MPSC2's, current alignment and target track pressures. I read a lot on here about heat cycling out and performance falling off; not sure if that is indicative of tread wear or not. I was thinking "not". First event on the calendar this year is Road America and really did what to run there 3 days double stinting the RS, so new tires it is.

Read your original post. Glad you didn't have a major accident. Wrong time wrong place = not good. What did you mount after the goodyear’s? I’ve considered getting a 2nd setup just for track and may be the way forward. It’s a learning curve, so leaning towards safety while gaining knowledge.

600 track miles that's roughly 6 track days, and those tires look like they've never been on the track once, so something is weird here. they could be heat cycled out and/or very old in which case they are hard as hockey pucks and that would explain the minimal wear. whats the date code on them?

i just saw you're in Michigan, going to grattan soon? hopefully ill see you there.

Grattan twice last summer. Will be back up there. Enjoying the warm weather and getting some car prep done.

awesome I'm surprised we haven't run into each other since i was there 6 times last year, who do you run with? and what times does she put down? car looks great.

grattan is a technical track but easy on the tires, unlike gingerman whos brutal on tires/brakes.

tires are most likely heat cycled out, you'll be supriesed how much more grip you'll have with the new set. it should be night and day difference.

Also achieved great treadwear on Cup 2's (and SMR2). Death by heat cycle long before tread in my experience. Good call ditching after 7,500 miles and getting a fresh set for the season.

Have never bothered looking at or paying attention to tread on Cup 2's and have gone through countless sets... they will feel like **** after heat-cycle wear long before you have tread concerns
