Wondering in anyone has experience of rear wheel steering fail/break on their car? Happened to me last week.

I'm assuming the same thing here. It becomes a regular car but with a warning light on the dashboard, right??

The warning light comes on when your car battery is low. Check that first.

I had the RWS go off at the track and it did not go back to a regular car, it severly effected the stability management. A tech at the track was able to use the PWIS to restart the RWS and all was fine.

Well, in my case, the control arm linking the actuator to the wheel broke while I was braking hard towards the end of a straight. The car squirmed but I kept control of the car and pulled over to the side. Initially I thought I'd blown a tyre, but the pressures were all ok however a dashboard warning message indicated loss of ESC & TC but said that I could continue to drive the car. As I drove off there was a harsh metal on metal sound from the rear LHS wheel so I stopped again and on closer inspection, that wheel was pointing in a different direction (by a few degrees) to the other 3 wheels. With no link between the RWS actuator and the wheel, there's simply no control over the steering (toe-in/toe-out) on that wheel!

This should be covered by warranty as it's a mechanical fault (not a consumable part) but PorscheAG being difficult despite the car having full service history at main dealers.

Not quite that simple... With no link between the RWS actuator and the wheel (the link broke!), there's simply no control over the steering (toe-in/toe-out) on that wheel!

But there are enough links on the rear suspension that it shouldn't just start flopping around. For sure must be a scary feeling on track or at high speeds.

Glad it all worked out!

Another reason I hate RWS. I wish we could somehow cancel it out with a PIWIS, if so, I'd remove them and put in good old fashioned fixed toe links.

First I've heard of the actuator link actually breaking, but I agree that if broken the wheel will go out of alignment since it would normally be one of the multi-links. Also agree that it should be a warrantee issue.

I did have the rear wheel steering fault warning, along with a whole bunch of other wheel/brake/traction warnings, come on once. I trailered the car to a track on a 9 hour drive over bad roads. At that time I was still putting straps on the wheels to secure the car. When I got back home, all these warning messages came on as soon as I started the car. Drove the car down the ramp and around the block, it reset itself. Now I secure the straps to the jack points, never had the problem again.

You can, it’s called RAS delete. Tarett sell them. Its a fixed spherical bearing bar.
I have them on my car.
