Default Track Insurance

Hello all, my wife and I bought our 2019 GT3RS at the end of September 2021. We have since done about 10 track days, we also just joined a new Track Club here in Arizona, The Podium Club at Attesa, and plan to spend as many days as we can at the track. We also do events with local track clubs ProAutoSports and PCA with an occasional venture into California with Speed Ventures.
It looks like a company "Open Track" offers an annual package for track coverage. It's a bit pricy at just over 11K, but I'm in this deep already, and I can add my Cayman track car for no extra charge.

So my question is, does anyone have any experience with this company? Are there other good options out there that I should know about?

I will be xposting this in the DE forum as well.

In addition to Open Track, check out offerings from Hagerty and Lockton.

I've used opentrack for three years. Best part, covers track damage as well. No complaints. Extra beni, Andy Lee offers free coaching to subscribers.

Of all those three, Opentrack is the lower cost in my experience. I've never had to make a claim - but someone will respond at midnight on a friday if you forget to buy a policy.

I use open track, very happy with them, I have not claimed but friends have and the claims were processed and paid promptly. The addition of Andy Lee's coaching sessions is also a very nice addition to the annual package.

I use Open Track as well. I like the flexibility of adding coverage to my other cars at a nominal fee and I can add other drivers (my wife) to the policy With one policy I can cover my GT2RS & my Cup Car for Track Day events and Testing Days. Does not cover my racing or timed events.

There are 2 [people I know who have had claims with Open Track. Both had good experience and recommend them. I don't track often enough to get the annual package, but I use Open Track for the 2-3 events I do a year.

I believe Lockton tops out at $150K max, so they didn't want to cover my GT3 and I doubt they can cover your RS.

I just signed up with opentrack. I insured my 2022 BRZ at an insured value of $40k. When I was signing up, I was curious what it would cost to add my touring, it was an additional $5,600 or so from what I remember. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to pull the trigger and cover my car for 200K I have more into it but that would soften the blow in case the worst happens. I'll also be covering my Cayman track car. Again thanks for all the help.

This is a car that my wife will be competing in our local club Hot Lap series. I would guess that while driving in those events she would not be covered? This will be approximately 5% or less of the track time this car sees.

This is a benefit that I will be interested in using. Is this like virtual coaching? Or will he travel?

Virtual coaching as part of open track but you can hire him outside of the open track plan. he also runs group sessions on specific topics. very helpful to me and gave me great advice, unfortunately I am in the NE so I have wait to put his guidance to good use

I recall hearing elsewhere that Open Track would sell insurance for single day events. I don't take my cars to the track often enough to justify the cost of the annual plan. Is the single event coverage actually available, and if so, what typically has been the cost for 991 GT3s? I'd like to cross shop this with Hagerty single-event coverage which runs roughly 1200 per weekend. Thanks in advance.

As Palting states check their website. Yes they have single event coverage and the cost will depend on the stated value you use. It's nice to be able to purchase coverage the night before you go to the track for an HPDE...especially when you forget...
