GT3 to GT4RS

Regarding GT3 v. GT4, I found the GT3 to be overkill for the street. Hence, why I'm in a GT4, which feels just right as a weekend mountain car. But that's all personal preference. Can't really have someone answer that question for you.

Make sense ADM plays a heavy role in the decision making. Hypothetically, would you guys trade-in a 991.2 GT3 + $0 cash for the GT4RS?
Just want to know if there is any drawback on the Cayman chassis vs. the 911. I don't really chase the fastest lap time or DD duty but would focus on how much fun it is to drive on mountain road / track.
(For sure if you want a manual then the GT3 is hard to beat...)

Setting that aside - yeah I could see trading a 991.2 GT3 straight up for a 4RS if that was a $0 proposition. Chance to try out a new car, refresh the warranty, enjoy the stellar Cayman platform, etc. Obviously pure speculation, but I bet it will be a fun car to drive.
Back to reality - it's going to be a decent chunk of change to swap from a 991.2 GT3 to a 4RS especially in a dealer trade.

I think it will be fairly rare for the next bit of time to see a 4RS w/o an ADM. I'm hearing steep ADM and a long wait before Porsche makes any meaningful number of cars. (Like 18 months).

Not here. GT4 looks good and drives great, but still see it as a downgrade from a GT3 of any sort. With ADM it's not even a consideration.

I have no doubt the GT4RS is going to be awesome to drive. However now having the 2018 GT3, and previously having a 2020 718 GT4 I can say the GT3 is a much better dual purpose car.
Around town the car is great. Of course the GT3 is firm and all of that but it’s not punishing.
The 718 GT3 had this horrible resonance at about 3k / 4k rpm (freeway and slow speed in town) that just rattled the heck out of my head so much that I didn’t like driving it. If I was at pace the 718 GT4 was fantastic but anything under it just sucked to drive. (I had a manual).
In contrast the GT3 I can spend hours in and be fine.
The GT4RS will be great - no doubt there. If I had space I would want to add one to my garage but keep the GT3.
My concern about the GT4RS is that it is very track focused and it will have those loud intakes (left one right by your head) I am guessing it will be tiresome outside of using on the track.
Of course maybe it’s fine but no one will know until journalists start making videos on them.

I am swapping to MCS 2-way remote dampers, I do not like the stock PASM damping

Think that could be an interesting trade, just to experience mid-engine dynamics (basically a mid engine GT3). Would think the fun to drive factor would be pretty high, and GT4 club sport customers wax poetic about that car (which the RS will be closer to). Yeah the strut only suspension and not increasing tire size is sub-optimal but if canyon carving those are moot points. On the track, however, don't feel the GT4 RS is a sufficient performance leap from any 991 GT3 performance wise. In the side by side N ring footage of the GT4 RS showed some stability and grip issues (particularly the throttle lift oversteer to get the car rotated) vs the 992 (or any 991 lap) but that will only rear its head at/near the limit.
moving to any RS anytime soon...

Just by what watching "The Ring" video, I would say NO. All they probably did was stiffen up the shocks with current damping curves to account for the increased aero. The car may be fast on the Ring, but it looks like it took A LOT of effort from the driver to keep the car planted. It looks to be moving around quite a bit, just as the GT4 does.
I am swapping out my 718 GT4 PASM for MCS 2-way remote dampers.

I think this video, just confirms your comments. Makes me rethink even if I’m offered a 4RS allocation at a reasonable price.

If you really want to achieve the fastest lap times, then 992GT3 > GT4RS > 991.2 GT3
If you mainly track for fun, MR and RR are just totally different, it depends on your own preference.
If you mainly want a weekend fun car, I think GT4RS can be much more emotional than a GT3.

And his question was about about a track/mountain car, not a DD.

I loved my 981 GT4. No drone in that car at all.
Just check out the thread in the gt4 forum where guys are pulling those noise pipes out. Many people have the same experience.
