Dundon has a permanent fix for the 991.1 engine. No one has been interested due to the 10 year warranty but as the cars roll off their engine warranties, this will be the way to go.

And drive around town at low RPM. My understanding is it that type of driving, not tracking it, that kills the motors. But then the fault shows up at high rpm’s, east to do at the track.

I know that's what they said at the COG meeting but I don't buy it what so ever. It defies logic to me as the wear happens due to lack of lubrication and non-durable materials that's expose at a high RPM when starved for lubrication and has metal-on-metal wear.

Also, just look at what they did to the rev limiter with the .1 RS and 991R, pulling back the capability to take the engine to 9,000 rpm I see as a lesson learned and a mitigation put into place.

Could Porsche deny the engine warranty if they found incorrect oil used to purposely blow the engine?

It was a tongue in cheek comment, Mobil 1 is the recommended oil but the consensus seems to be that there are better options out there.

I've not heard of Porsche doing an oil analysis on a blown .1 motor covered by the 10 yr. The dealer opens up the motor and examines the finger followers. If they are showing abnormal wear it's new engine time.

haven't you heard?....Porsche is including psychiatric therapy in the engine warranty for 2014 GT3 owners.....

If I could afford to move up the GT3 food chain, I would have. I love my .1. It’s been good to me for over 10k track miles. I put quite a bit of money into it for safety and performance reasons over the last 3 yrs and frankly don't want to go through that hassle again. But, unless I get the golden ring and my engine blows, I’ll be selling within the next two years.
