100% manual mode.
Track or DD on road

Same for C2S, RS or Macan GTS

I have tried PDK Sport on track and find my manual shifts are on point.
Sometimes I find the PDK shifts when I would rather linger in that gear, so always manual.
Plus, it's WAY MORE engaging and I feel like I have more control.

I hate that in regular auto it shifts like grandmas buick at 1200 rpm (or whatever low rpm it is), then in pdk sport around town 8k+ shifts are a bit much. Thats what got me started using manual mode all the time

Which car do you have? Because my 991.2 RS doesn't do that. In normal mode, it upshifts at 2K with partial/constant throttle. But if you are still accelerating or applying more throttle as you accelerate, it shifts much later... maybe 5-6K. At full throttle, it will go to redline. In sport mode, partial/constant throttle, it will still upshift at 2K or maybe a little higher. If you are still accelerating or applying more throttle, it will shift later as well... but not 8K. And if you stop applying more and more throttle or if you back off the throttle slightly, it will then upshift at whatever RPM you're at.

Basically... the PDK responds to what your foot does. In sport mode on my car, it never goes to 8K under normal driving. If you floor it, then yes.

Agree, same as above with my 991.2 GT3. PDK responds to what my right foot is doing, more aggressively so with the sport button pushed. I drive with PDK on auto on the street and on the track. After decades of driving a manual, I specifically ordered my car with PDK, and I make full use of it's advantages.

Manual mode 100% of the time.
Shift at 3k rpm until engine warmed up.

My GT3 is the first non manual transmission car I've ever owned (991.1). I keep in auto until warmed up then manual all the time, feels like I'm keeping myself engaged more with the car. Tracking the car though, I keep it in PDK Sport, shifts are great and it allows me to focus on other things while on the track.

Agreed - my 991.1 C4 wanted to go to redline in every gear in "Sport Plus", was fine in "Sport" and short-shifted to the point of lugging in standard auto. But Sport in the 991.2 GT3 is much more tractable as a default mode. Behaves as you describe. Maybe the .1s generally have different programming?

I turn on the car, hit exhaust and sport buttons, and always drive in manual mode.

Manual only.
Never even tried auto in one year of ownership, good for the track for sure though.

Manual.

But full auto PDK wins the kickdown contest--how it jumps 3 gears (i.e. alternate shaft) instantaneously to give accurate max-torque acceleration is an engineering and programming marvel.

If I’mholding a cup of coffee or my phone, auto, otherwise manual. Non sport auto early shifting is for tired old men who should sell the car to someone who realizes this engine is intended to be reved up. It’s a Porsche for goodness sake.

80/20 manual vs auto. Auto as the car warms up, on the highway when there’s too much traffic for spirited drive, and running errands where I’m constantly just hitting traffic light. Dedicated night and weekend drives its 100% manual. I’ve started using the stick more than the paddles too though the paddles are invaluable on twisties where I am able to drive quickly.
