Default How do you drive your pdk?

I was surprised to see how many friends drive their gt3 or rs in normal auto. I am always in manual with the occasional pdk sport for spirited drives. I have always wished there was a mid point for the automatic. Hate that its either a 1200 or 8000 shift point selection. How do you drive?
regular automatic
auto/pdk sport
Manual

I am always in manual unless I am going to be driving at or near racing speed, then I will put her in auto

Majority of time in manual mode. Obviously it’s not the equivalent of a third pedal car but it’s certainty not a “boring” experience. As quick as these cars rev it’s nice to have options based on use.

Would be interesting to see this as a poll, but manual mode 99.9% of the time.

Always manual, always - except on track when chasing lap times. Much more fun and engaging on the road in manual, and helps me check my speed by hearing the revs and using engine braking.

Had a buddy of mine meet up with me in Dallas for the weekend a while back. He drove up his Turbo S that he had owned for several years. He had only ever driven it in auto. Didn’t even know their was a manual/PDK option. Since I was the designated driver for the night he gave me the keys. Mind you this was before he had even had a drink but I drove it like I dove my RS, manual mode. He was aghast at what he had been missing all these years. Some people simply don’t know what they are behind the wheel of. Manual 100 % of the time.

Auto until it’s warmed up. Then manual until it’s parked.

Maybe a dumb question, but for those tracking their pdk cars, is it best to leave in auto and not manual shift mode around track? I’m curious why, does the car pick shift points better?

manual S-PDK on the road, always. On track S-PDK auto, while manual is fun, the auto is just so damn good.

i only drove my 458 and GTR in manual mode. The rare times i threw it in auto were for drinking something or picking up the phone. Most autos are dumb imo, goes to the highest possible gear so you're cruising at 1200 rpm or something ridiculous and have no power on tap. then when you get to a hill it waits for you to lug the engine before downshifting to the right gear.

i'd rather be in an EV if i'm leaving something in full auto and not engaged with it

less distraction for the driver. can focus more on the line instead of worrying if they are in the right gear.

I DD the car:
95% normal auto
5% sport auto
PDK knows what it's doing
I occasionally short shift it on the track

The PDK auto on track is unbelievably good. Exceptional. I love manuals, love shifting, but I know there is no way I could get around the track faster shifting manually than the PDK auto can do. It's brilliant.

On the street? Regular Auto mode for the first couple of minutes to warm up at lower revs. Then the PDK Sport button goes on, and I'd say the Auto/Manual mode is roughly 30/70. Auto for cruising down the highway with a coke in my hand, and Manual for most all other stuff.

On the track? PDK Sport, Auto.
