I have never had any issues with my FAL and though i normally lower it after putting her in the garage (my driveway requires the FAL up) I have at times forgotten to lower it after parking and not driven it for weeks.

Unless you've taken multiple driving schools or done HPDE for a few years i wouldn't recommended it. Doing donuts in a parking lot doesn't mean you learned car control and understand how the car will behave at limit. Not to mention the street isn't a perfect surface like a track and can upset the car in ways you cant predict.

Its not silly at all. Nobody is born a race car driver. It takes years to develop the skills on track, autocross, or driving schools. Driving the car and being able to handle the car are two very different things.
My 2c
I have driven a pretty good subset of high HP front engined/rear engined cars and it is my feeling that the rear engined GT2 with the big cup2's gives incredible traction and excellent feedback at or near loss of traction time. The 991 GT2 for all its Widow Maker/Grim Reaper superlatives that people throw around isn't a 917 30 with 1,500 HP, it's 700 HP in a 3,200 lb car. Are they beasts that you need to respect? Yes. Are they undrivable scary monsters with the nannies off when you ask her to dance? Absolutely not, the car is an engineering masterpiece, you just have to be paying attention and know what you are doing to be quick (not hard, just quick) to catch the inevitable oversteer

Advising someone to turn the nannies off and have fun is not an irresponsible thing to do. TAKING the advice - if you don't know what to expect and how to deal with it - IS an irresponsible thing to do.

That seeming twist in the logic plot...is the result of something I like to call Personal Responsibility...which we need more of in this society.

What are the known issues with this car that I should look out for.

Thanks!
