Default 718 GT4 vs 991 GT3 noise dB

Hi, could anyone provide estimates please?
Tracks I frequent have strict noise limits. 718 GT4/GTS (which is what I have right now) are usually on the limit, although I keep sports exhaust on so presumably with it off I‘d have a bit more of a buffer.

Would 991 GT3 (.1 or .2) be noisier, and by how many dB?

Remember the 991 GT3s did not have to comply to the then new 2019 emission regulations. In other words they do not have an OPF or it’s dummy device(on non European cars).

To be clear I‘m in the UK which at the time of 991 release was in EU. So I guess all 991s here do have the particulate filters (?)

Check the dB limit on the tracks you go to, then do a search here on Rennlist. There have been multiple posts here on the actual dB of the GT3, as well as multiple posts on deflectors that will deflect the noise away from the sensors on track.

My home track has a limit of 92db.
Never seen a 718 GT4 get black flagged.
Many GT3s get regularly nabbed.
I would guess 2db+ difference.

No, even the European GT3 does not have the OPF. The GT3RS does though.

Tracks I go to have limits of 87.5, 89 and 92. My 718 was never a problem but if you now say GT3s get black flagged at a 92dB limit track then clearly they‘re quite a bit louder.

thanks.

Some info for you, we have data for everything as we're out testing almost every week and appreciate how important good reliable noise data is. If you need anything more just let me know

718 GT4

OEM EXHAUST - 91.2dB

JCR TITANIUM SILENCED VALVED RACE PIPE - 94.5dB

JCR TITANIUM NON SILENCED VALVED RACE PIPE - 95.1dB

991 GT3

100% OEM (Non OPF 2018 GT3 RS) - 98.2dB

JCR CENTRE BYPASS (Non OPF 2018 GT3 RS) - 101.8dB

We have titanium silenced tip options for both cars, both of which drop the noise level by 5-6dB on a full throttle drive by

Not entirely correct. 991.2 GT3's does not have OPF, which is true. I got one of the very last European GT3 Touring (delivered later in 07.2018) and does not have OPF. In August, they had the Betriebsferien (factory closed) and after September 2018, pre-OPF cars cannot be produced.

However, there are some 991.2 GT3RS delivered without OPF before September 2018. But the numbers are really limited.
Then there is the version with OPF, which we kind of call 991.3 GT3 RS in Europe. Market is quite strong for both, but the pre-OPF prices are kind of crazy.

thanks. Super useful. I notice you‘re also based in the UK. With your silenced tips, are GT3s ok on full throttle drive by‘s at the worst / strictest tracks, such as Bedford and Brands Hatch? (I hear Castle Combe is another strict one but I haven’t been).

Absolutely.. We have some customers who run the cars with the silenced tips all year round but in reality they're only necessary (when you have the stock exhaust installed) for the 98dB and lower days as mentioned

Brands / CC / Bedford are the worst for noise and if you head to a day there you'll see most if not all Porsche GT cars will have our silenced tips installed

We carry them in stock and can be ordered at the following link - ORDER - JCR TITANIUM SILENCED TIPS

Great info.
Do you have any measurement with 981 GT4?
I have one and my ears are convinced that it is much louder than my 991.2 GT3 Touring. I am planning to have more sessions in Bilster Berg next season and I am afraid I might black flagged.

prices or same for 991.2 or 991.3 RS.
i think 991.3 RS revs more crazy over 6.000revs.

Keep in mind the GT3 is one of the loudest stock cars out there. Hard to pass noise check at many tracks with OEM exhaust.

981 GT4 we have measured between 98.9dB and 101dB .. Seems quite some variance in these cars noise level, largely depending on how they have been used
