Default First Service 2016 GT3RS - 3850 miles

Here is a list of the service performed. Have a couple of questions after picking up car.
#1 - Oil & Filter Change
#2 - Brake Fluid Flush
#3 - Replaced Coolant Reservoir - Warranty
#4 - Cabin Air Filter Replacement - Local Fires "why not"
#5 - New set of MPSC2's

Question - Service report indicated "suggest to replace spark plugs, as per maintenance interval". My maintenance manual does not indicate as a requirement. Also IMHO the Porsche Maintenance Schedule in the Booklet that came with the car is bunk.

Spark plugs should be done by age or mileage. Every 12k miles or 2 years. https://pictures.dealer.com/porscheo...c2b0d5ecad.pdf

Controversial subject on whether or not they actually need to be done.

Controversial, hmmm. Dealer suggested, kind of vague, either they do or do not require replacement in my experience. With very low miles would there be any risk not changing until I hit the mileage mark? Also, is this a DIY for an outfitted mechanic in home garage? Thank you for the Maintenance Check List!

I say controversial because plugs with 3k miles on them probably are going to be fine, especially on a street driven car. But Porsche recommend replacing them so that they don't seize to the block, which I have not heard of actually happening. On my 997 GT3 the interval is every 4 years and I will likely follow that, or maybe do 5 years.

So if you want to follow the requirement, which I do, I would replace them at the 2 year mark. Is there risk to actually not doing it until you get to the mileage, probably not, but that's probably going to take you many more years to get to. Also would depend how the car is being used.

Here's a DIY on how to do it. https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...ug-change.html

Here's two videos.

My owner's manual called for SP replacement at the two year maintenance service. So yeah I did that

Spark plugs are a joke to change at 3k mileage. The corrosion possibilities is valid in certain environments.
Heres a common sense tip loosen them and relighted corrosion solved.
Another dealer trick is a fuel filter.

This all has been discussed ad nauseam just do a search.

I mean when racing we replace them after every race weekend, to me 4 years is fine but I wouldn't sweat 2 years either...sp aren't that expensive
