Spent the entire weekend re-setting the GT3 for its new track wheel setup. No problem getting them on. Pulled out of the garage and immediately hear scraping. Pulled back in and inspected.
Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? I've heard of people grinding the bolt. but I'm not sure that will work here. I won't say the name of the company that forged them because I have yet to speak with them about this. I sent them an email today, and I will call tomorrow.
And yes it's on both sides. They both look like this.
wow that's horrible! sorry to hear that. is this an offset issue I wonder?
Offset is similar to stock. Actually talked to them about the best setup. The connection sits inside the barrel with the stock wheel, as well. Obviously stock is 20". These are 19", however they, and other manufacturers, make wheels for GT3 and GT3RS in 19" wheel setups. When the car is on jacks, the wheel doesn't touch - the rubber joint has that much give just sitting there. I could grind the bolt head, but I'm wondering if the rubber joint will deform even more under extreme load, as would happen at the track.
Thanks Tay! I've been trying to search Rennlist for this issue - difficult when the titles are not specific to the problem at hand. You have to read all of them. Looks like I need to get some bolts overnighted ASAP!

Op: what 19" wheels are you running?
Even with the Panamera bolt in stalled, the closest point to the barrel becomes the control arm itself, You'll still get light scribe on the barrel due to flex or rocks got stuck there.
I had 19" Forgeline GS1R on my 18 GT3 with the Panamera LCA bolt and still got light scribe line on the rear barrel.
Last time I walked the track paddock to check every 991 GT3/RS running 19" wheels, all had scribe lines on the rear barrels
What's interesting was one RS i checked with 19" Finspeed wheel and stock LCA bolt didn't have any scratches on the barrel. It must be due to their wheel barrel design.
Wind911, Well I already have light scribing from the 20 feet out of the garage, so if I end up keep the wheels, I'll always have that. "Light" scribing I'm not worried about. Hard gouges that affect integrity of the wheel is a bigger concern. From what I've read, most of the wheels brands have this issue with 19" of a GT3/GT3RS, and require modification to the bolt. The flexion in the rubber joint is concerning, since it was not touching when the car was on jacks.
Jickel180, No I didn't. I didn't hear of this until after it happened, and I started looking online. The manufacturer didn't tell me about it either, which upsets me the most so far.
Put 19s on my 15 GT3. Ground the corner of the bolt head. But not enough so found lots on curly aluminum stuff where I burned the doughnuts to get the mold release off the tires. OK after that. Want to buy my pre formed wheels?
