I need a manual 991.2 GT3
I finally got a chance to test drive one with the "Manuel". Perhaps I shouldn't have because I didn't have any intention of purchasing the car, but now I know it's going to be in the back of my mind for sometime and torment me. What a machine. The driving experience was just sublime! I didn't realize how much I had missed driving a manual gearbox. It's been 11 years since I owned one, let alone something this special. But it all came back to me, as though I'd never been without one. I think it took about 5 minutes or so to figure out the clutch engagement and after that, it was as smooth as one could drive a manual GT3 for the first time.
Thanks to the traffic and the congestion all around, I didn't get to rev it past 6500 or so, but it didn't matter. The car had a GMG center exhaust and it roared, and sounded glorious. Of course it didn't help that the sales advisor was in the car with me, but he was super cool. He didn't know much about the car, but the dealership sells Mercedes so it didn't surprise me. He told me it was 100% stock. Apparently not, and the next owner will be pleasantly surprised. He seemed amused when I was demonstrating some of the features. I must admit, I enjoyed every unnecessary downshifts with the sport mode activated, particularly in the middle of the busy streets, but I couldn't help myself. It had been a while since I didn't care if it was the fastest car or not. Don't get me wrong, as the car is plenty fast, but it was just about the driving experience and rowing through the gears with no care about anything else! Too bad for me, it was only about 25 minutes or so,
The car wasn't the cleanest example but it could still put a smile on your face. I could tell the car had been to the track a few times, but no problems there. That's what the GT3 is all about. Having said that, the car had a full front PPF but was definitely in need of some TLC to make it perfect. In the pre-Covid time, perhaps I'd make a move but in today's market with everything turned up side down, it just doesn't make sense, at least to me. So if you've got one, enjoy it in good health and keep driving it. You've got one hell of a car

Very cool post...I especially liked the part about not caring if it was the fastest car, you were just enjoying the driving experience. I own a GT2 so it is a special feeling always being the "fastest" car anywhere I go but I too have the 6MT itch in the back of my mind, though in my case it would be an open air car of some sort and probably a Boxster. Thanks for posting what I have been thinking.

Could not agree more, I have friends with McLaren 720's and Ferrari 488's, but I am more than happy to stay back and listen to the engine noise of the GT3 while carefully executing manual gearchanges. Shifting gears yourself, unless you are on a track and concerned about lap times is the absolute best way to enjoy these cars to the fullest. I am intrigued by electric cars and actually had a Taycan on order but decided to cancel as it was both too big (for me) and I figured in the not too distant future we all may be forced to buy electric so I am going to enjoy the GT3 as long as I possibly can!!

yeah i gave up on speed, lap times, horsepower a long time ago thankfully. My enjoyment behind the wheel is more important.
besides... the new tesla plaid can embarrass everything on the street and its the price of a carrera s.

Great post. Newer owned a pdk Porsche. Had a 964 996 turbo s Ferrari 550(still have), but driving a gt3 just takes it to the next level. Hopefully soon should own a pdk car for the wife will see...
