anything to look out for with this engine? Common failures?

My other question- is redlining at 9000rpm going to hurt this engine?

Personal opinion here, but given the progression of the .1 engine between the corrections made to sustain high revs with increased lubrication/DLC coating/etc and pulling back the redline with the .1RS, I don't see the need to push a replaced engine in that 8500-9000rpm range. Not to say I don't have faith in the fix/mitigation itself, but I don't see the need to push the issue with time in that last 500rpm range. To be honest, I wouldn't mind flashing in a pre-mature rev limiter at 8500.

So your GT3 self identifies as a GT3 RS?

Would think it could be problematic if the RS 4.0 engine requires more air (scoops on the RS), the GT3 tune is used on the ECU (revs to 9000 but on lower air flow, is the ECU pulling timing/reducing power), and isn't adjusting for the taller differential gear?

all good points. I am working on getting the ecu flashed.

There is no significant net difference in gearing - the RS has a shorter diff only to offset the larger diameter rear tires.

As for the intake air - I think the ECU can meter and adjust mixture as needed (it does this at high altitude for instance. I think timing is only retarded when knock detected). It may make a bit less power than in an RS, but should still be more than the 3.8L. Peak torque should still be same as RS (don’t think intake is a bottleneck at 6k rpm).

You could also consider upgrading the intake:

Question Engine Number Research

I have done further research regarding engine number "MA1.76 H65037" specifically the Porsche V-Pages that pop up when you search Wikipedia Porsche Engine. The engine number that appear to fit within
"991 GT3 RS MA1.76 2017 H 00501>600000 6ZYL/4,0L /383 KW" but do not know how to interpret the 00501>600000. I think the next 6 must be six Cylinder. The 4.0 is obvious but do not know the 383 KW.

Thanks for any coaching and help.
