Default Be careful installing Harness Bar/roll bar

My harness bar was already installed when I bought the car. I don't know if it was installed incorrectly or just something you have to deal with, but the bar will scratch the back of your bucket seats if you move the seat all the way back. I attached a pic of my way of preventing it getting any worse. I stuck on some felt from some velcro patches I had. ( I have a GMG harness bar, but I'm editing the title to be fair when Installing any harness bar /roll bar you should use caution.)

For a variety of reasons, GMG would not be my first choice of bars.

Dumb question, does your LWBs have seat recliner brackets as well? If so, having contact with the bars even OEM (non-US clubsport) is expected.

If not, I wouldn't understand why GMG is not aware of this.

Curious what your issues are with GMG?

Which model of GMG bar do you specifically have? I have the GMG WEC bar and do not have his issue, there's still a good amount of space before it would come in contact with the bar. This pic was taken with the seat all the way back on the lowest setting.

OP: please specify which GMG roll bar you have and picture of the bar.

I have GMG LMS bar and the LWB seat back is nowhere near the bar at the rear most position.

Hi there! We’ve never really run in to this issue before. As long as the bar is properly installed, there should be no contact with the seat at all.. Please reach out to us so that we can figure out what’s going on and help find a solution. Thank you!

I have to commend a company that's this responsive to a customer complaint/problem!

I have this bar, and as I said it was already in the car when i purchased it. My intent was not to trash GMG but just to bring this issue to the attention of others. I was also curious to see if others had the issue. These are scratches I only noticed when I went to install my 6 pt harness and not that big a deal to me.

We haven’t really had any customers bring this to our attention, so this is a curious situation. Do you have any pictures of the scratches and where it’s making contact?

The scratches are less than a half inch in dia. The first pic is with the seat all the way back. At first I couldn't see how it would rub until I lowered the seat to it's almost lowest setting. The second pic is the front. Someone mentioned the reclining bracket I don't think this is it. The sub harness is kind of in the way to see.

It is a little tough to tell. If that is a seat angle adjuster, that might be the reason for the contact.

I actually think it's the OEM bracket, and it's the same on the passenger side and it rubs on that side too. I think you have a good product and I appreciate your response I'm not ready to tear everything apart right now to see why it's rubbing, but thought I'd see if anyone else had seen this and to be careful.

Regards,

Larry
