Be careful installing GMG Harness Bar
#16
Doesn't the oem porsche bar and other manufacturers bars sit above the waist line in the rear? I have had 2 different bars (non GMG) and the mounting plates at the front are flush with the bolt holes and then the bar actually recesses back from the plate so there is no contact with the seat.

For sure angle bracket. Checkout the side picture from the autoquest product page, no way could I get my stock seat that far back. I know there are other options for angle adjustment but this pic seems to have the seat in a position where it'd hit that specific harness bar.

The scratches are less than a half inch in dia. The first pic is with the seat all the way back. At first I couldn't see how it would rub until I lowered the seat to it's almost lowest setting. The second pic is the front. Someone mentioned the reclining bracket I don't think this is it. The sub harness is kind of in the way to see.
seat in contact with GMG RSR harness bar at back position

Thank you for sharing pictures, so my initial hunch was correct.
Those are not OEM seat brackets, they are BBi seat adjusters, which no doubt provide more recline angle + result in contact with all roll cages, including OEM.
You have 2 options (1) remove the BBi seat adjusters and go back to OEM, you also lose the additional recline angle which you might be used to, or prefer (2) don't put your seat all the way back, put it 1 notch before the end and there will be no contact.

I had this problem in 2017 with my GMG harness bar... If the seat is stock angle, I think this is probably an older version of the harness bar which did have that issue. I dealt directly with James / GMG on it in February, 2017. Ended up taking it out - was a real pain in the *** - carpets were cut, etc. At 6'7", I had no choice because I max out the seat position. .

Interesting. Mine just got installed so I have to assume it’s not the older version described. The buckets definitely make contact at rear-most position in my 991.2. I never thought much of it as I don’t drive in that position, but I do move it back before getting out of the car. I’m just careful to not go all the way.

I have the LMS bar and seat angle brackets and my LWBs rub the bar on the back. At 6'6" I have to have the seat at the farthest back position to drive comfortably. I ended up putting a piece of pipe insulation around the bar where it contacts my seat. It looks pretty tacky, but I just call it my race car engineering...

I inspected my passenger's seat over the weekend, and realized that the adhesive felt that the previous owner had installed was wearing thin on the passenger's side (likely due to tall passengers), so I bought a new 3" x 1" felt strip with adhesive on the back to stick on the bar that connects at the base of the B pillar to prevent it from rubbing the back of the seat. (i.e. don't forget about protecting the passenger's seat)
