It's sad to see it so deserted and run down. The past year has been hard on hundreds of millions of people. Beautiful pictures though.

My introduction to Corsica was reading the old Asterix and Obelix comics when I was a kid in Europe in the '70s. I need to add it to the list of places to go.

Had the great fortune of a trip like this in a Z4 a number of years ago!

Corse still seems so unspoiled, thanks for sharing!!

Are the ferries from Nice running regularly these days??

Cheers!

We did the Northwestern part of Corsica about eight years ago - in a Renault though... Rented a villa near Porto and did daytrips covering basically everywhere from Calvi to Ajaccio. Calvi was AWESOME and the entire week was one of our most memorable ever!

The best part was renting small boats, getting on the water and seeing the coast - especially the Scandola Natural Reserve. Sorry the restaurants aren't open as they were all great (but with mostly identical local menus - pizza, mussels, etc...) but we did a lot of cooking in our villa with fresh finds from the markets. The locals make sure the Island doesn't get developed - much less overdeveloped. Our Parisian friends told us the entire island is "controlled" such that there are no for-sale signs on anything. If you want to purchase, you will need to be approved by someone...

Hope to get back someday. Enjoy the drive!!!

After Nonza, we go to Saint-Florent which is a seaside resort and we finally find a little life.

The speedster has the additional quality of being rather roomy thanks to two locations located under the double embossment of the rear cover which also contains the folded top.

In fact, these two locations correspond to the back seats of a regular 991.

From Saint-Florent, we decide to climb (well, the speedster does the job) to the Col de Teghime.

At this point you can see the Mediterranean on both sides, towards Saint-Florent or towards Bastia.

The pass was the setting for a battle for the liberation of Corsica during the Second World War (early October 1943).
The Moroccan "goumiers" helped by Corsican resistance fighters fought here

We then head to the Ile Rousse, the drop-off point for the first day, passing through the Agriates desert.
It lives up to its name because apart from a few huts or shacks, you can't see anything from the road except the bush and the sea.

It's rolling and the speedster amazes me with its super sporty character and vocalizations.

From the Desert des Agriates, you can reach the beach of Saleccia.
The beach is considered one of the most beautiful on the island.

You can't go with the Speedster, you need a real 4WD and know the places.

for my american friends, "The Longest Day", an exceptional war film, starring John Wayne, Robert Mitchum and Henry Fonda, was partially filmed on this beach in the municipality of Santu Petru di Tenda. Far from Omaha Beach ...

So a Frenchman, in a German car, near a Corsican beach, filmed in memory of an English, Canadian, American military landing with a small French contingent on a Normandy beach. It's a bit strange!

The next day is a day of wonders but a difficult day for driving because the chosen roads are in poor condition and / or strewn with stones.

It's tense because the Speedster transcribes everything!

It remains a gt3, low, incisive, firmly suspended at low speed ...

We'll get there but from a driving point of view it was sometimes painful. A too choppy pace and a maximum concentration while I hardly pass any car.

I'm afraid of puncturing a tire and I don't want to end up on the Porsche Assistance truck.

The first part of the route is easy between Ile Rousse and Calvi but not very exciting.
