All that time you spent looking at its price could have been spent on an actual investment with significantly more returns

Think about the fact that there is a non zero chance that you will be dead in 10 years.

Not sure what your basis for your love/hate was. They are phenomenal cars and have been praised from on high since their debut. I have had a few high end hipo cars and scooters over the years and the GT2 is just a different animal. As to your question, I get immense utility value just from owning and occasionally driving my GT2 so for me it's a very good investment. Regarding a purely dollar and cents analysis, I think anyone that owns one in ten years will have a more valuable asset then what it represents right now. As others have intimated, as to investments I would rank any current Porsche well less ROI then what I expect from bitcoin in ten years...I am gambling that I will be able to buy the supercar of my choice in ten years with my modest bitcoin holdings without blinking an eye. Back to the GT2, at some point Porsche is going to hybridize their top GT2 RS car and when that happens it should bode well for the gasoline powered GT2's value...if it happens to be the 992.2 GT2 RS that gets the hybrid treatment I think the 991.2 GT2 RS will certainly get a bump in demand which will correlate to increased value. With all that said, if you have the opportunity to buy one I would definitely +1 that move.

This car is a bit controversial, some people love it, some hate it... this reminds me of the Carrera GT when it first came out. It's under the radar for now and it feels like a great entry point in the low $300k.

Do you think it'll become a collector in 10 years eventually?
I'd suggest you use half of the budget to buy a used .1 GT3RS, enjoy the hell of it and invest the left over in 3 Bitcoins. Thank me 10 years from now.

I owned one - I wouldn't say I hated it but it was very twitchy on the track and it was the least favourite car I owned in that price bracket as I found the steering very numb and the driving experience quite insulated.

Happy that you're loving yours.

That's pretty funny...The Grim Reaper as a "driving experience " is "quite insulated"

Hagerty Drivers Club magazine recently had an article tracking classic car values over the last few decades and found there were only a few multi-million dollar cars that appreciated more over the same time frame than you would have got if you put the same purchase price amount in a index fund for the same time frame.
So buy cars to enjoy without hope for profit.
