991.2 RS vs 992.1 GT3

The thing I love so much about my 991.2 RS is the analog displays and simplistic but yet elegant interior. The new tachometer is too futuristic and I m not liking the mercedes like massive screen sorry.
Also, put the Cup 2 R tires on the old car, they will account for 7-8 seconds easily (they make 1s per 1 minute lap as proven many times). No one is going to drive around a GT3 with a $2,500 impossible to purchase tires that last 2,000 miles on the street.

As others have noted, I think it really depends on what you want. While the 991.2 RS is statistically comparable to the 992 GT3, my guess is they are still very, very different animals. I'm possibly in the minority and actually like the 992 GT3 look, love the wing, love the wheels etc. and would 100% buy one, but I have ZERO shot at getting one. I'm not on a list and there is no way I'll pay the ridiculous ADM's that will come with having the latest and greatest GT car. Look forward to seeing them in person later this year, but will hang onto my 991.1 for now and will continue to put miles and tires on it.

I went through a similar debate with a 991.1 RS vs. 991.2 GT3. I pulled the trigger on the RS, loved it. And ultimately ended up also owning two different 991.2 GT3s. I'm glad I owned the RS mostly because it would have been 12-18 months w/o a car had I waited on the GT3. Time is more precious than money. Unless you are the type who really wants a brand new car, I'd lean toward getting the RS even if you leave open the possibility of another car deal down the line.
The car is fast - brutal, in fact - with the immediate kick down, but I can only do that every once in a while. Meanwhile, rowing the gears is a pleasant experience when driving fast or slow. The 991 RS was a bucket list car - the kind you find as a wallpaper on my PC desktops. But I'm not getting younger and while I'm planning to track the GT3 this year, its likely it won't be more than 3-5 outings and even less next year.
So, right now I'm trying to figure out if I trade into another .2 GT3 with the 6MT (touring or not doesn't matter, I love the wing) and keep it, or buy an ugly 992 GT3 and hope it grows on me. I might be tempted to get an RS when the prices (eventually) fall, just to check that list, but regardless of the choice I'm happy to have my current GT3 and don't care about any depreciation loss if it turns out to be a short term ownership (due to one of the above coming true).
Let's face it - life is short, and I'd like to spend as much of it as I can driving (not just owning) a 911 of some variety (preferably a GT variant). Next to my family, it is one of the things I enjoy most in life.

991.2 RS is a beast! Get it now and buy a 992RS in 2 years if you think you have to go newer.

The RS is so much more of an event to look at and drive. My GT3 felt like a luxury car after I got used to the RS. Everything is turned up a few more notches. One thing I absolutely love about the RS that nobody ever talks about is how the air box is plumbed to the intake vents on the side of the car: These act like intake noise megaphones and the induction noises at full throttle with the windows down are just insane compared to a regular GT3.
For me it would be no contest, and I was fully in the “I see no point in the RS” camp before I got mine.

Yes, the 991.2 GT3RS sounds like an absolute beast on up- and downshifts, much better than 992 GT3. The pops and snorts on up/downshifting are more animal....
Can't argue 992 is newer tech and better front end but I like that 991 RS is more analogue and I like its stance and look even though the new wing is better integrated on 992 than on 991 RS
Regardless, 992 will be more efficient, more buttoned down but less raw even if it has better more efficient aero and is faster around track.. fact that 992GT3 is now as stiff on bad roads is another factor.. there is no added comfort

Often someone who really wants an RS buys an RS, in any generation. You can expect that each iteration of a new model will exceed the performance of the outgoing, or it would be tough to market (sell). It sounds compelling and frankly a smart strategy, to highlight how much improved the 992 is. And indeed they have added options typically only available on the RS. Deciding between these two cars should be easy considering they are different generations and unique in styling. You could add the 992TTS to your list if just considering how quick it is on a track, as those are plenty capable too. I believe at this stage and price point you get what your gut tells you. I love the RS for how it drives, handles, sounds, etc. Other than full leather and buckets, I don't long for any other technology inside the cabin. I use bluetooth to stream Pandora and don't care how the music sounds as it's just background noise when the engine is idling. There really isn't a bad choice here. Personally, I like waiting until things calm down with the newest generation. Good luck!

If the gt2 rs comes with air to water, game over for the track rat market.
Petrol being squeezed but Porsche still at it.
/sorry for the slight OT
