Default New to me .1 GT3 in Khaki Green!

Hello all, I've been a rennlister for quite some time...started out in the Porsche world with a 996 cab (sold), then a Lapis Blue 997 Carrera S (sold) which led me to track days and then starting my own track day business LOL, then an '88 GP White Carrera (selling), Macan turbo (DD) and finally my ultimate goal...GT3!

I did not expect such a difficult search! Plenty of GT3s out there, but not many spec'd the way I wanted. Right color combo with LWBs and FAL. I can certainly say Khaki green was not on the color combo list, but when I saw it, I fell in love with it. With white underneath the Inozetec wrap, LWBs, leather/alcantara with stitching in platinum, black seat belts, steel brakes and 11k miles I was very, very happy. As a bonus, it is a Brumos car! It still has the original engine, but I'll just have to deal with that when the time comes.

Thanks all!
Looking to educate myself on center locks. I want to be able to remove the wheels myself.

Also looking for track wheels. I found a set of used 19” forgeline RS wheels. Will they fit?

It’s funny because getting a car up in the air and getting the wheels off is a common and repeatable task but a little extra difficult with this thing.

Everybody will have their own workflow for this, but here’s mine:
1. Jack all for corners up on 2x6’s to get clearance
2. Start from the rear and jack up a corner and place on jackpoint jack stands. Move to front, then other rear , etc. it’ll make sense when the car is up in the air how it behaves
3. Ebrake on, crack center lock (pulling up only, I use the precision instruments bar/tq wrench combo) - double check you have a short term disability policy in place.
4. Call somebody in the garage to deal with your stupid car and step on the brakes so you can remove the fronts
5. Slap that silver crap everywhere - clean center lock nut because it’s now covered in silver garbage
6. Order more silver garbage because you just ran out
7. reverse steps. Take pride in a job well done, a meaningless task is now a journey.

Thanks!

Are you not able to break the center locks loose before jacking?

What is the silver stuff?

Assuming you don’t use a normal socket to remove the center lock. What is used?

I can’t say I fully understand the reason why, but you’re not suppose to break the center locks while on the ground. And also only by pulling up rather than pushing down. Didn’t bother to question the rules and just comply.

The silver crap you put all over the threads is here:
https://www.suncoastparts.com/produc...IaAoOBEALw_wcB

The the centerlock socket is in your frunk, you have to pull up that plastic piece in the center to get to it.

Takes me back to my youth when I did a stint in The Corps...I love it. But Khaki isn't a green, it is tan/sand colored...I would call yours Olive Green

OK- I know this is done tongue in cheek and it is funny, but as a new owner I think we need to send them in the right direction.

OP- This is an easily learned task, but requires you read the manual, follow the steps and use the right tools. It is a one person job with the right tools.

Here's one of the latest thread on tools that will help: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...s-adapter.html

Read through it, there are a lot more threads on center locks if you use the search feature. My advice is to spend the money on a torque multiplier, some good jacks and the right Irwin clamp to hold your brake pedal.

Good luck- nice wrap BTW!

Thank you! Car isn't here yet, but downloading the manual and reading it is on my to-do list. Thanks for the thread referral. I'll dive into that.
