Ultimately, LL is a good test.
It’s a few drivers over a few days. There aren’t enough hours in the day to have the same driver for every car. Even if, somehow, that were done.... someone would complain about morning vs afternoon. The internet would ask C&D to build a dozen exact copies of VIR so that... I kid.
To answer the OP, yes, I’m a little disappointed in the performance per dollar. The reason I’m disappointed is that the Porsche hierarchy is reducing the performance per dollar relative to what it could be. It has been widely publicized that Porsche profit per car is the highest. In order to build this profitable and complex hierarchy, some cars are handicapped. The GT4 should have 475-500HP, AT THE CURRENT PRICE POINT.

a 1.69 second difference. The crazy Shelby Mustang GT500 put down a 1:33.84 and the 992 911 Turbo S got away with a 1:32.97. Both Porsches were on Pilot Sport Cup 2's as was the Mustang according to the article.
The Corvette was on Pilot Sport 4S'

The best part of the list is that it highlights the variety of great cars and certainly a natural path of performance evolution. For me, it is more exciting to see personal best times posted here on RL. Not for the sake of argument that the average driver can't replicate this, rather it is fun to learn about the trials and tribulations of what it takes to extract the performance from track oriented GT cars. For example, not quite the same comparison, nevertheless my first true top end speed endeavor was the purchase of a brand new Honda '93 900RR. This was the beginning of the cutting edge lightweight liter bike class. Was a break through super bike for its time. I was a very proficient rider in the 600CC class. My first attempt at racing this bike was an eye opening experience. Needless to say I was never able to match what was published in the magazines, but I sure did enjoy that bike for many years.

"Partly to blame, we think, are the tires. Pirelli P Zeros are great tires, and they do a phenomenal job on the road, even with this kind of power behind them. On the track, though, even Pobst agreed they just don't have the capability to keep up with this 911. Yes, they're still pulling a seriously impressive 1.10 lateral g, but there's no doubt Corsa or Trofeo R tires would lead to faster—and therefore more thrilling—cornering speeds."
